Exactly! Or Mexican soccer player Jurgen Damm. It’s not that uncommon for Latinos to have non-Latin sounding names.

It’s especially weird that Pops mentioned the cops had come by to investigate the crime scene but didn’t bother to clean up the blood before they left ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The biggest reason for the change, if you believe the writers, was to change the layout and underlying CMS. The comment section change was secondary.
Agreed!
Arrival wasn't really high-budget. I remember reading the AV Club's review and they mentioned that the total budget was $50 million, which while a huge sum of money, doesn't really quality as high budget for a Hollywood movie.
Not all bigotry is derived from hate, sometimes it's derived from ignorance.
Online companies are increasingly forcing people to change their passwords, usually after suspected security breaches, even Google and Facebook.
Yep, indeed it was.
It's not. The show simply popularised it.
Ah yet another phrase to be co-opted by the entertainment industry from African-American vernacular, only to become overused and then subsequently face backlash on the internet. I wonder which one will be next?
Does every writer at AVC need to express the same opinion or sentiment about a given peice of pop culture…?
It's plenty adequate for me as I can always get good Mexican food without worrying about gentrifiers overrunning it.
While generally Mexican food served in NY restaurants is garbage, downstate NY has a substantial Mexican-American population and if you know where to go, you can find excellent Mexican cuisine. Usually at a food truck or by going to a friend's parents' house :)
Except everything she thinks is best for Lorelai and Rory are what SHE thinks is best and not what either of them want. Even if she's eventually right about some things, the ends don't always justify the means.
Ok cool.
What a career! I've probably heard her voice hundreds of times and never knew who she was; something I'll have to remedy.
There's nothing wrong with wanting to see complex ideas explored in entertainment. But to be surprised or find it "disquieting" considering the social and political climate of recent years in the U.S. and regardless of your stance on it, the emergence of groups like BLM, seems more than a little obtuse.
Is it really? There is internet backlash about far less complex issues.
Eh I think the only dormmate who might have thought the whole Lorelai staying over as weird would be Janet. Paris already knew Rory and her relationship with Lorelai and Shauna was even younger and more freaked out than Rory was. I don't think it's unrealistic that they would latch onto her charisma and accept her…
