The control thing makes sense. My dad was one of eight kids, and his family was horribly dysfunctional; he was the one that was most ignored. He is a horrible father and we are not even on speaking terms right now, but I do feel sorry for him. He definitely must have felt powerless as a child.

My dad is a hoarder. As a result, I have thought for most of my adult life that I have OCD about my house being perfect and beautiful. I have had fights with roommates about how they want to decorate, and I HATE clutter and little kitschy decorations. My house is very minimalist.
