A tale told by an idiot

I don’t think anyone suggested a causal relationship. We’re just annoyed to see a movie mis-represented. Juno, the character, was not particular androgynous. That has no bearing on how Page should feel. Page was playing a character. That’s acting. Lots of actors play characters who are different from them.

Well this took an unexpected turn into a happy ended.

Nope, I was just being an insensitive a-hole. Sorry. I respect his struggles and can’t imagine how awful it could be to not be able to be yourself. Sorry for being insensitive.  Just one thing, it's Colombia, not Columbia.

I see and I agree. I didn't want to sound insensitive, I guess I am a very bitter guys sometimes, but you are right, I shouldn't disregard other people's traumas. Sorry people like him have to deal with things like these that invalidates their identity, and sorry being insensitive.

There is no trauma Olympics or “extremely fucked up” Olympics where we measure or arbitrate how people get to feel about their own experiences. I’m sorry your experiences sucked. I’m sorry Elliot Page’s experiences sucked. I wouldn’t want to experience either of them. Yet neither is invalid simply because the other

You can either heal from trauma or constantly try to win the trauma Olympics where no one else’s experiences matter because yours were worse. He never once compared wearing a dress to violent murder.

In a certain sense, I would like to see the masking requirement for children in schools dropped. I also recognize that schools necessarily involve a crowd of people, in doors, frequently talking, for hours at a time, apparently the most dangerous scenario for spread. And, of course, it’s not just kids in schools.

This is what has been bothering me so much for a while now. I’m in an area of the country where we are only now dropping mask mandates and even still, there is a WIDE berth of freedom which has existed almost completely since the beginning of this. I think there was a two week period where things were definitely a bit

A rant in agreement with the author: I have a six-year-old and a four-year-old. My older (vaccinated, mask-wearing) kid got COVID at school about two weeks ago. She had a sore throat for less than 24 hours. My younger kid (less than 80 days from being able to be vaccinated) caught if from her despite our best efforts

The idea that measures should continue until the virus is no more are totally unrealistic.

I don’t have kids. I can’t imagine the worry you go through. I do, however, have preexisting health issues. According to the back to normal narrative, I’m expendable. I’m never going to have a normal. I’ll be wearing masks for the foreseeable future. I literally see one person a week because I have to. I understand

Carlin’s a great example of a comedian who stayed relevant and kept punching up, not down, as they got older, richer, more established, and more successful. There’s a reason he’s so fondly remembered still.

Comedy has a long history of provoking deeper thought by sometimes saying outlandish things.

I don’t understand the hesitancy from pregnant people. The doctor that’s been guiding through your pregnancy is recommending you to get the vaccine. You trust him with your pregnancy but not with that? What the fuck?

The story fell loudly for so many reasons.

“My “favorites” though are the men 45-50 and over who say they want kids.”

As a 42 year-old man who has not yet had children due to various health issues with my partner and instability in my own life, this one hurt. There are people who *still* want to have children later in life, but were unable to do so when they

To be fair to Lizzie Bennet, she lived in a totally different time where women’s literal survival depended on attracting and locking down the wealthiest mate possible. She did not have the option of earning her own living, or, regardless of money, living an independent life without marriage. Under those circumstances,

Ah, I see, what she’s concerned about is that *gasp* doctors might have to provide life saving medical care. The horror.

Even with pretty white ladies it’s not normally national news.

I mean, it might be gross but I can't really get behind chanting at anyone about their hygiene. I'm sure Ashton and Mila will be fine but that is still bully behavior.
