Yep, nobody wants to get rid of the Chicken Tax (except people who buy trucks). When pressed, those in charge say it wouldn’t make a difference anyway. If that’s the case, then why not get rid of it? It was defunct 40 years ago.

2019 Ridgeline RTL. Got selling price down to $31k, added lighted running boards and heated wheel for another $800, got $1k on trade-in, put $1800 down and financed $29k at 0.9% for 72 months. Monthly payment around $424. That's for an AWD truck with NA V6 and six-speed auto, leather interior, tri-zone climate…
It’s time they modified the Chicken Tax to say EVs instead of pickup trucks.
As long as we have some semblance of roads, i’ll stick with my sure-footed Ridgeline.
There were 2-3 years of five-speed autos in the Accords and Odysseys (and a few Acuras) that had problems, but Honda did a recall on them. Those were around 1999-2002. We have a 2008 Accord with the five-speed auto and 150k and it’s been flawless. Fluid is as easy to change as the engine oil.
It’s a very pretty car, but restoration would be a bridge too far, ss this would be a restomod candidate. For that category, i would need to be under $10k. NP @ $9k if negotiations start at $13k.
Where's the video? Frickin' clickbait...
If it was just me, it’d probably be Integra S, or a Tesla if i couldn’t get Teggy for MSRP.
Any vehicle with a driver yakking or texting on a phone.
Some 25 years ago, i drove from DFW to Austin and jt was 80-95moh almost the whole way, across multiple lanes. The biggest hazards were people poking along at 50-55mph. Speed wasn’t responsible for accidents, but speed differentials were!
It's an Acura, not a Ford. It is just reaching it's mid-life.
1st Gear: larger EVs are self-defeating.... they require larger heavier batteries to go the same distance while destroying roads amd other infrastructure with their overweight proportions.
It’d be interesting to see a breakdown in contribution to American (U.S.) economy from a union-built car made with foreign parts vs a non-union-built car built in the U.S. with all American parts.
This is just a little too nice to restomod. If it had an unoriginal engine and sold for half the price, I'd be interested. As is, this is more for a collector restoration and out of my league.
Maverick is too big. Something like the TELO truck would be a game-changer.
If Honda wanted tonget serious about offroading, they would build a CRV with iVTM4 and a couple more inches of ground clearance. But i guess they have dirt bikes, atvs and utvs for that market.
The best commonly-available system (between $30k - $50k) would be Honda/Acura’s iVTM4 / SH-AWD system. They are essentially the same unit, but with different programming (Acura adds a bit more RWD bias and greater torque-vectoring range).
Where’s “Little Nash Rambler”, err, “Beep Beep” by The Playmates?!?
Actually, my point was more about the memories associated with cars of that era, not any specific cars in general.
NP for the right person, that person being the one wanting to re-live the late 70s / early 80s car scene, or at least have memories of that era being constantly stoked by this ride.
