Firstest Gear: You approach a right-hand curve in the road. A car is coming around the curve from the opposite direction. Your Collision Mitigation Braking System interprets an impending collision, panics and slams on the brakes.
A i understand it, the 4x4 is rated for a heavier weight class, so the EPA test places additional load on the truck in highway mode.
There should be something like this https://www.amazon.com/Univent-Automatic-Solar-Vent-Opener/dp/B0083IZG0A/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?keywords=greenhouse+vent&qid=1563816928&s=gateway&sr=8-7
I wanna see an electric garden tractor. The weak link in lower-priced lawn and garden tractors is the transmission. Give us an electric setup with a two-speed trans, or even a transfer case. Regular for mowing, low for hauling heavy carts or pulling ground-engaging equipment. Just need enough battery to run an hour or…
Honda’s 9-speed is actually the ZF unit, same one as found in FCA and Land Rover products. It’s issue is that it contains two dog clutches in combination with the typical friction clutches. Those dog clutches are between gears 4-5 and 7-8, so there is a hesitation when downshifting through those gears, as the dog…
Honda was toying with this idea with their Clarity concept in Japan (i think Clarity represents a whole line of vehicles over there). Something about connecting a bevy of Clarity EVs to provide power for a village...
First Gear: wasn’t there a story a couple months ago about Honda partnering with GM on future EVs?
NP on car, CP on monkey.
As i watch the IIHS Small Overlap crash testing, i start to wonder...maybe we should drive on the right with right-hand-drive vehicles? As long as you hug the shoulder, you shouldn’t collide with the guy on the other side of the road. Add a remote camera when dealing with oncoming oversized loads.
That 46.7 is based on the 1973 standards, so it is artificially inflated. The actual number is much lower.
I think around $21-22k, if you can find one.
First Gear: Why doesn’t somebody (Hyundai/Toyota/Honda) build a $15k mini-truck overseas, then import it and sell it here. Even with a 25% Chicken Tax, shipping, prep work, etc., the price would still come in under $20k.
Ford and Chevy quit building cars here because they know that they can import them from overseas with no Chicken Tax. They can do this for a few years before they get domestic plants converted back over.
To address some concerns:
Yes, that bed looks too cantilevered to be able to support much payload. I believe the Subaru BRAT suffered the same malady.
Yes, most modern truck buyers are a pretty vain lot.
Then it is pretty sad and embarassing that that “disguised minivan” has a higher payload than most mid-sized trucks and some full-sized trucks. It has more utility and workability than most “real” mid-size trucks.
You are being too presumptuous here...
Actually, IIHS classifies it as a large truck because the base model exceeds 4000lbs. That is what they use for their cutoff.
