I wish I could "like" this post more than once.

No, the Ladies' Man was funny.  (Until they beat it into the ground, anyway.)

If I'm reading this right, you are comparing Mazzy Star to Janis Joplin, Lou Reed, and Warren Zevon.

With regard to this thread, impact is relevant when judging newsworthiness, that's all. My initial post was just wondering why everyone was so excited that a 15-year-old one-hit wonder was resurfacing.

"They were as popular as The Sundays, I'd say." - Moreso, I'd say, as I had to look The Sundays up to even remember who they were.

What a difference five years makes.  (I graduated high school in '97.  I never heard anyone in college even mention "Mazzy Star," outside of an odd spin on the college radio station.)

I can name my own obscure favorite bands from the 90s, but I wouldn't expect their comebacks to be news-worthy.  (Did you know Gravity Kills are working on a new album?  AVClub, post a news item!)

Hey, Mazzy Star.  They had that one song, right?

Well, there's only so much Godard you can watch before you have to move on.

I have too much built-up brand-antipathy to Blockbuster to seriously consider them unless their offer is *very* attractive.

I'm still subscribing to both discs and streaming, and I'll continue to for the foreseeable future.  Despite their recent blunders, it's still a great service, and it's still far better than paying for cable.

I don't know if you're joking, but I'm in the middle of Season 4.

I watched your video, and I'm not sure what the difference is.

You seem to imply that it's impossible to simultaneously enjoy light fare and serious cinema.

I don't get why they just don't hire Mika and test him out for a few shows.  Anyone who's ever heard his song "Grace Kelly" knows he's got the Freddy voice down flat.  And in case a listener isn't paying attention, he name-drops Freddy in the fucking chorus just to drive it home.

Sorry, I didn't mean to leave you thinking I was referring to the community over at US Weekly or Car Talk.

Yes, it's just like the Twilight Zone episode, except the TZ episode has no girlfriend, no son, the robots are human-sized, and at the end the protagonist takes the robot's place in the ring, which I assume Jackman does not.

It's pretty common to not like Kristin Wiig, I think.

By "made that guy a character," do you mean "used that accent he often recycles for anonymous characters"?

What's your problem with Sudeikis?
