First take: It’s ugly as fuck, a downgrade in terms of design compared to the current model, which may have aped a Range Rover but at least looked premium. It looks like a fucking pre-facelift Edge. I’m thrilled about the RWD platform, but couldn’t conceivably ever buy something that looks like that.
While I’m glad to hear the CT6-V will make it to production, albeit for a far too short run, it’s a poor consolation in light of the overarching story that the model will ultimately be killed off in the very near future. This car was such a monumental leap forward for Cadillac, from the new lightweight platform to the…
Fair point, although I think a lot of investor interest in Tesla and its valuation is based on the potential that, as their technology evolves, they may one day become more than just a car company. Otherwise, I doubt they’d be able to raise enough capital to sustain the business and do the things they’re doing.
I don’t give two fucks about Ford’s attempts at electric/autonomous vehicles, because I’m never going to buy one. Ford is not Tesla. And regardless of the amount of bloviating coming from the C-suite, Ford stock is never going to be valued like a tech company, because Ford is not a tech company.
If true, that would be a damn shame. If they would actually move the Continental to the RWD-based platform it deserved all along, I’d probably buy one.
But you couldn’t get it with AWD. This is significant.
So they’re ripping off the name of a performance trim Mustang to bestow it upon an (inevitably FWD-based) “performance” SUV jacked-up wagon “inspired” by the aforementioned Mustang but built on the platform of a FWD economy car (which won’t even be sold in the US except in crossover jacked-up wagon form) only electric…
So that’s it, huh? Ford is just going to cede the entire small and mid-size car market to the Japanese and Koreans? Is that Hackett’s brilliant new plan - give up? SMH.
