These mods were done almost 20 years ago when 17" wheels and 35 series tires are the stuff of sports cars and not luxury sedans. Nowadays 17s are no big deal, with minivans and such being equipped with them. But compared to the stock 15s on 65 series tires? Those make the 17s look like rubber bands.

These mods were done almost twenty years ago, so I don’t remember all of the details. Only the front springs were replaced, with some lowering springs from Bavarian Autosport (I think); the rear springs are stock to give the car a little rake and maintain some load carrying capacity. I think the struts are Bilstein

Precisely. If I had any brains when I made those mods nearly 20 years ago I would have gone for a softer spring to compensate for the lack of sidewall height. But on the bright side, I didn’t have one of those unsafe cars with lots of engine mods and stock suspension and brakes that couldn’t handle the increased

You can also make the same dumb decision in your thirties. My 525i 5MT looks great, but between the wheels and tires, springs and sporty shocks/struts the ride will break your back and knock out loose fillings. Never again.

I dozed off for much of the race (I was at work at 0500 after only about 3 hours of sleep), but caught the last quarter, and what a race it was. I recorded the post-race show, which was good since that covered the last 10 laps. I would have liked to see more of the post-race coverage, but I'm thankful that at least I

1982 was peak F1 for me. IMHO those cars looked great without the front wings, and the cars have gotten uglier every year since.

Was the mac n cheese moving?

Let’s see - pay $10K more for a less useful ‘utility’ vehicle? Pass. Not that these are used in that fashion - you might as well just add a trunk. It probably wouldn’t sell all that well if it was cheaper than a regular Cayenne, with people playing more for ‘style’. Again, pass. But I'm not really in the target

Cool Pic, with some of the greatest drivers all in one spot. But I could never respect Prost and Senna, as well as Schumacher, like I did Villeneuve and Lauda. I may be in the minority in this opinion, but I believe in sportsmanship over just winning. Crashing into a rival to win a title? That’s the kind of behavior

A few decades back I was in an automotive technology program. A classmate’s dad worked for Toyota and had a leased Camry. He was about to turn it in and get a new lease but he had to prove that maintainance was done during the period that he used the car. At 90,000 miles we performed the first oil change on that

Damn.

You think he actually listens to what his underlings attempt to tell him? All I see is him sitting there with his fingers in his ears repeatedly chanting “na na na I can’t hear you na na na”...

I have no family, but I just like minivans, as long as they’re not a snore to drive. This one is fun to zip around in on a daily basis, yet extremely practical when I need the space.

Minivans, too. When you've only got 157 HP, you have to make each one count. Seven years on and I have never regretted this decision.

Years ago, a friend of mine drove a ‘67 Karmann Ghia. It was his first car, and was even the car in which he was brought home from the hospital after he was born. He wasn’t a good driver, and even less skilled mechanically; for example, he decided to check the oil only after the engine had seized.

What was that you were saying, Stretch?

I’ve always wondered about this issue, especially since buying my last new car. I bought their 2012 loss- leader after the 2013s had already come out. Their first offer was about 10% off of list, but then I pulled out my iPad and showed them their very own ad, with the VIN listed, and said I’d pay the price in the ad

I love Touch ID and would miss it if I ever upgrade my phone, but right now it’s barely working for me. I’m having the same problem with the timeclock at work, but I fully understand why in both cases, and it’s not really a limitation of the technology.

That is indeed a good piece of music.
