The chain is called Red Racks and is run by DAV (Disabled American Veterans). You’ll have to check their website to see if they operate stores in your area or under different names.

Even with the lights down (background), it still looks rather dopey. The LM version (foreground), however, looks infinitely better and more suitably aggressive.
Is there a sub-chapter for those of us that like our F1 cars without front wings? Although better for drivers and safety in the sport, the elimination of ground effects negatively affected the aesthetics of F1 vehicles after 1982 IMHO.
I love that collection of ports and valves on the lower right. It reminds me of a Vanagon Westfalia (and probably the only thing these vehicles have in common besides having 4 wheels...)
Can someone please explain to me the American with gigantic cars and trucks? As a third-generation American I should understand but I don’t have a great deal of experience in this regard. The last huge vehicle we had in my family was a Plymouth Satellite that mom traded in for a 124 Sport Spyder back in 1975.
Well, multiple BMWs, a Benz and a Porsche didn’t attract any women I’ve wanted to have long-term relationships with so I’ve gone back to buying what I want (not that I was driving those vehicles for such shallow reasons...) The previous van was a freebie so it doesn’t really count. The Vanagon and Mazda5 were by…
I’m old and single and love minivans. Bought my first at 19, second at 39 and third at 46.
Let’s compare that to the 48HP VW Vanagon Diesel, which had a quoted time of 41.1 seconds. I couldn’t find a 0-60 time for the Westfalia camper version, and that makes me wonder if it was even possible to get that monster to 60 MPH. It was a great vehicle to convert to a gas engine back in the day, back when they…
I miss my Marsalarot/Damusoweiss Vanagon (not mine pictured). Barebones and simple, it was a blank canvas that could be turned into anything. The downside was that I was everyone’s designated frigging chauffeur and moving helper. An attempted illegal U-turn by a complete moron (the other guy, not me...) totaled it.…
I was on board until I saw the red center caps on the wheels and then changed my mind.
That link in my last reply might not work. Look for item 281949315080 on eBay.
It’s been a while since I loooked at this stereo, but as I recall it looks a lot like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-Stereo-Car-Radio-DVD-Player-GPS-Navigation-For-Mazda-5-Premacy-2009-2012-Map-/281949315080?hash=item41a57d2008:g:ahIAAOSwll1W0-i1&vxp=mtr It keeps an OEM look to the install and seems quite similar…
I view mine as a slightly larger Mazda3, which if you think about it, it really is. I’ve never driven a mini, old or new, but I understand that they handle great and thus this is a very complimentary description. I’ve only driven a couple of the major players in the minivan segment, not bothering with Toyota or…
I don’t know why they had such a hard time selling these things. I wanted it because it wasn’t an SUV, but I guess I’m in the minority. Mine was the dealer’s loss-leader; they advertised it for $17K to get people in the door, but once they saw the manual, higher-profile tires, lack of Bluetooth and leather, etc., they…
Item 14 is just a plug-in refrigerator/warmer that can go in any car. During the summer I keep it plugged into the rear power outlet (seriously Mazda - only two outlets?) to keep a few bottles of water chilled. I haven’t opened it up yet, but those things usually use a Peltier junction and a fan, so I can probably…
It sounds like you have a couple of keepers there, the wife and the car.
That’s the one!
I absolutely love the VW Vanagon for reasons I cannot possibly explain and really don’t understand. My family had three from 1980 to 2002 (a 1983.5 for me and a my mother had a 1980 and a 1990). She sold her last one, a pristine 1990 Carat, for $6,500 back in 2002. I was unemployed at the time and couldn’t afford to…
She probably wants some SUV/CUV/Crossover, right? Vans are the greatest thing ever, and she has no idea what she’s missing. I am a bit biased however, and currently drive one (my third, a Mazda), by choice, after years of VWs, BMWs, MB and a Porsche.
