A brand new car doesn’t need trips to the service department? Is that an achievement for LR?

I work in one of those service departments and tbe Defenders aren’t coming in much at all since the first run of 110s in the Summer/Fall of 2020. And almost all of those issues were software bugs.

I’m the opposite. I was pretty “meh” about the pictures, then I saw one in person and loved it.

The Nissan Quest from ‘04-’06 had one of my favorite weird dashboards. I bought one partly on the strength of its quirky console alone.

which in both cases you will visit alot.”

FTFY.

if you’re gonna be there anyway, you might as well be comfortable :)

WOW!
That daringly offset center stack combined with the daringly centered console instruments combined with the poor fit and finish and OH YEAH the way the whole hot mess is then uncentered in the car and awkwardly nailed to the steering wheel is stunning.
Bravo.

Toyota Echo. It gets stranger the longer you look at it

After a few years of reading this column, I think I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve hit NP

I might have to take a break on this column until the used car market becomes sane again.  Or, maybe I’m just getting old.

There’s something to be said for the bracing honesty of the bland car. It isn’t trying to hard at being something else. It simply is what it is, and that actually makes it worthy of appreciation.

Total bank robber car. Almost totally invisible, even if you are looking right at it. Witnesses can only describe it as “car?”. It has some get-up and go.

As a 2015 Frontier owner, there is nothing that justifies that price point. NOTHING.

I know Jalopnik’s called this out before but it’s Steve’s fucking BMW 733i from Stranger Things.

I’m confused, WCSYB usually has at least one silly option, but these are all sensible options. Nothing exciting, nothing hilariously out of place, nothing silly, just “you could buy this for these reasons” and “you could buy that for those reasons” and “here’s what you really should be looking out for.” WHO ARE YOU

Toyota needs to buy this and sell them as the new mr-2. The supra is a bmw, the gt-86 is a subaru, its only fitting that the mr-2 will be a lotus.  At least the mr-2 will have a toyota engine in it.

All of this because he lives in a country where the cost of healthcare would kill him otherwise. This is all great and warm and fuzzy, but let’s not forget that this would not be necessary in a country with a working healthcare system for its citizens.

If anyone is to blame, shouldn’t it be the Suez Canal pilots? I mean, that’s their home turf and they’re on the ships to effect a safe transit. If they failed to do that, why isn’t it their fault?

The headline logic doesn’t track. You have to remove the airbag to remove the wheel. If they are taking the wheel, they are after the wheel (too).

The chain might last but not the guides and tensioners. Or MB balance shaft gears on V-6 or timing gears on the V-8.

I bought a Matrix new in 2004. It was a great car and I was always in awe what I could shove in that hatch. Best feature was the lay-flat bed. Really a great car.
