I can never watch the throne room scene where Kylo tells Rey “you’re nothing, you come from nowhere” without my hair standing on end. Partly it’s the execution and partly the sheer audacity of that revelation, that Johnson was brave enough to attempt this twist in a franchise known for its genealogical surprises.

Strongly disagree. There were several wow moments about the sequel trilogy, most especially in TLJ.

“Herein is the paradox of the left’s climate agenda: The less we use fossil fuels, the more we need them,” a Wall Street Journal editorial from Monday crowed, going on to say that the grid is less reliable because of wind and solar.

I’m kind of tired of the “he could never get a girl that hot!” complaint, frankly. I know a few schlubby doofuses who have managed to punch way above their weight class, romantically, because despite their screaming need for a Fab Five makeover, their humor gets them in, and their honesty wins them over.

I really have a soft spot for Daisy Ridley. She’s so earnest and likeable as Rey.

Believe it or not, Raimi’s Keanu Reeves’ flick is called For Love of the Game, no additional “the,” which somehow makes it even worse?

Weren’t the Sabrinas buried in the cemetery that brings people back to life?

Sabrina immediately going from feeling shitty for almost causing a cataclysm by ignoring advice from people smarter than her, to triggering her step-dad because...she ignored the advice of people smarter than her was stupid and killed any emotional weight the scene had. She’s been through enough shit over the years to

implies objective truths where there are none

Yes but does the Dark Saber know that Sabine was disarmed in Malfoy Manor?

Justice for Becky the Duck!

I thought it was a bad take. As a straight, white, cis, middle class man, no things won’t change much for me. But for my friends and loved ones that aren’t like me? Yes, there is a difference.

I don’t trust Martin’s sensibility about sexual violence at all (and yet the show managed to not improve on it!), but there’s a nuance here that gets lost because we don’t have a great vocabulary for it. Daenerys suffers rape because she’s been put in a situation where she’s not in control of her sexual consent unless

It’s all about perspective: it’s just more appropriate for people to interpret movie & TV review letter grades like they’re for low-priority electives in one’s early high-school years, rather than like they’re for vital courses while trying to get into an Ivy League university.

The common knock on Jurassic Park is that its human characters are underdeveloped

You realize at this stage in her career Swift IS the board meeting, right?

I would watch a movie where Geena Davis hunted Mel Gibson for sport with a bow & arrow. Or a reality show

think they might come back eventually. Also everything they left yet, right? I think this is a first attempt at damage control, and we’ll probably see a more nuanced solution later on

I get bored by having to say it.

It doesn’t. Ayn Rand had a worldview based on promoting and protecting self interest, which is literally what the villain of The Incredibles does.
