Oh my god, Mouse, I could hug the crap outta you right now. That's the nicest request I've gotten in months. You've got a deal. :)

No, no. I should've been clearer. By 'it' I meant the comic-centric panels at SDCC.

I'd say that SDCC is the most recognized 'brand' insofar as cons go, a brand which we all have to admit kind of dominates geek culture as The Required Geek Mecca to Visit. I did it in 2007 and it's everything people say it is. Noisy, confusing, sold-out (in every meaning of the phrase), overwhelming, exhausting... and

It's still there though I think (or at least it was in 2007 when I went). Without the lesser focused comics panels, I would have never discovered the campy wonder that is Fletcher Hanks.

Given Lindelof's proclivity towards 'just because' spirituality in his third acts, this seems like an utterly perfect fit.

Hahaha well done.

By comparison, the Stallone version, while not exactly from the comics, had a very solid look.

Now playing

I swear every time I see it, all I can think of is either Spaceball's Dark Helmet... or this (at the 57 second mark).

What does that have to do with Steven Simmons's original point?

*coughs*

I am really loving the music in this. Whereas the Dark Knight music was tense and nerve-wracking, this is very primal and visceral.

You're simply making things up.

So just so I'm clear... when you stated that 'berat[ing] someone's personal beliefs... with no repercussions' was standard fare here... you meant that the trolls berate evolutionary theory and the big bang, etc? Or that trolls are allowed attack people here for being religious?

I'm a bit confused by this statement. Are you saying that io9 is mostly comprised of anti-religion trolls?

I think the ability to ignore/block persistent trolls at the commenter level is an asset that, for whatever reason, is continually underappreciated and too rarely implemented in commenting systems. Even Gawker's half-baked 'dismissal' ability doesn't answer this need.

And this conclusion is based on what exactly?

Snark noted. And raised.

The Rocketeer is not steampunk.

Someone has to be that guy. :( Radiator fins, rayguns and concentric rings do not steampunk make. This looks more like dieselpunk or atompunk with a touch of brass and leather.

3 (one can possibly even argue four) very awful movies out of five.
