Bad controls? I can't get over people saying this! Of the recent games only Dark Souls has done a better job at a combat system! It's not meant to play for you, it's supposed to follow your every instruction. When you get into it, it gets downright easy outside the highest difficulties.

Map indecipherable? What are you talking about? The areas were so small that the map was utterly unnecessary, but if you really needed it, it showed you well enough your position in relation to your destination. The combat, likewise, only loses to Dark Souls in sophistication.
just try it again. Everything is more complex the first time you try it. Witcher 2 is one of the better games
