Oh crap, I had no idea Horner did that! And I’m not surprised about the borrowing from himself, given WoK’s battle theme was essentially recycled for Aliens!

The main theme to Battle Beyond the Stars is very much Horner, I don’t think it sounds particularly Williams-esque. If anything, the theme to BBtS sounds like a WiP progress version of the Star Trek 2 main theme also written by Horner.
I hate to say it, but the title music’s homage to the original fanfare made me think of all those early Star Wars ripoffs, some terrible (Starcrash) and some passable to good (Battle Beyond the Stars, The Last Starfighter), but all attempting to mimic Williams’ brassy, boroque theme.
I totally get what you’re saying. I remember thinking the music was generally good during the battle on Scarif, but throughout the rest of the movie, I was wholly underwhelmed (so much so that I actually thought about it, as I was watching the movie).
There are some things I really like about the soundtrack (I love it whenever Saw and his group are on screen, for instance), but for the most part, the whole thing just gives you Star Wars blue balls.
“Standards” is one of, if not the only, reason why the poor find it so difficult to get housing. Standards are great for keeping poor out of your neighborhood.
Trust me, I have k own homless people. I can guarantee that they would much rather live I a secure room with a roof over their heads than one that meets all the building codes. They don’t need x number of outlets per wall, large windows in every bedroom, etc.
That would be a mistake. If nothing else it’s a fun ride in parts and an emotional one in other parts. Definitely worth seeing in theaters. I just saw it a second time today and love it right up there with Empire!
It is “now” considered offensive? Like someone that used to not take offense has now chosen to take offense? Who is the one with the problem then? I will still use the term female and male when I want to.
There are women at the comic shop in my town every time I go. There are usually POC as well. The nerd community is as diverse as Not Too Bright’s joke was lame.
Its perfectly fine to refer to a female as a female (n) and a male as a male (n). Dont try to redefine the English language. Might wanna get your panties out of a bunch.
It wasn’t a lame sexist joke about women drivers. It was a lame sexist joke about comic shops being exclusively patronized by men.
Whenever I hear someone use females, I see Quark
I found the driver....
I’m gonna be old guy here:
Yup. I honestly think this is a more realistic fighting move for female heroines given that they don’t really have the upper body strength to take a guy down with a punch (or if they do, it comes from magic and not muscles). I think that’s also why you see female heroines taking guys down with karate kicks. Their most…
This was going to be my response too. It’s just as unrealistic to think that a 120lb woman can take down a 220lb guy (punching/wrestling/etc).
I agree with this basically - that the smaller woman has to be more agile than the men and ‘gymnastics-esque’ flip and leg moves is a way to show this. A woman’s legs would be more powerful than a guy’s arms.
Umm because it’s actually kind of difficult to topple someone with greater height/reach/mass/muscle than yourself? If they punch a guy in the chest they’re aiming a little above his center of gravity and he might get knocked back, but he’s probably not going to fall over.
This could be the year’s biggest movie if it’s even a little bit good.
