The moment when Polanski's name appeared at the end of The Ghost Writer was quite awkward for me. I really enjoy that movie, but knowing who made it after the fact…I felt conflicted.

There's no getting around the reality of a finite number of chords, so hearing similar progressions don't bother me. Melodies are something different though.

I can agree that manufactured bands don't suck because they don't write their own material, but it does make me respect them less. They're essentially karaoke singers.
