"Duvall is so desperately, achingly pitiable in the film—so clearly someone who has been beaten down (mentally, at least) through years of marriage"

Apparently I have touched a nerve…

You know, if I could separate the film from the book, I'd probably agree more.

"The mini got all the details right".

No, because you like the warm fuzzy ending, or no because you like a film that is tangentially related at BEST to it's source material? An occasionally visually stunning film, with a handful of great scenes yes.

Ehh…I'll say Duvall was bad. She's not like the character in the book, and her performance as meek wife ruins the movie for me. Scenes she's in I don't watch anymore.

Regarding the mini-series version of The Shining, I like it much more than the Kubrick.(Not that there aren't great parts in Kubrick's.)

Agh! I looked her up on IMDB…now I'm trying to keep my Gladiators fantasy completely separate from…what you(throws up slightly in mouth)…said…

I think we watched the Lost Boys just to confirm it was Wirth. Didn't realize McGinley was on there though. And that would have been post-Platoon and Wall Street too, so participating seems like an…odd?…career choice.

Holy crap was this show awesome in my sophomore year of college. We'd drink and party through SNL, but at 1am the music would've turned off and both men and women would sit down to watch.

Norman Fell died.
(He did, didn't he?)

He's dreamy!

Your memory was better than mine.(Maybe you're a BLANK!) The trailer on IMDB does show much more robots/blue stuff than I remembered.

Especially since the most obvious element of the plot of "The World's End" is older(to a YA audience) guys revisiting their past.

Is this a "Ha!" thing, facetiously, or do tweens really love Nick Frost? Like Dewey Oxburger in Stripes?

A YA audience would be cross-shopping with The World's End? That sounds unlikely.

Well…maybe he was just burned out on the anthem. 162 times a year…

I did not know that. Interesting…

I'm no oenophile!(which I had to look up to spell correctly!)

Go Terriers!
