I've since fleshed out my scotch choices(tastings in the area have turned me on to several William Grant expressions), but I still have a soft spot in my liver for The Macallan.

It's not really product placement, but I started drinking The Macallan scotch because Neil Peart mentioned it in his book Ghost Rider.

Minor compared to Ronny getting killed sure. But the scene when they show Burt's leg still gives me the shivers.

S.C. huh?

Well, Ned is staring down a shotgun…

Relatively minor injury? It's a compound break through the skin! If he doesn't bleed to death, he's going have a whole petri dish of Georgia funk living in his leg after soaking in that river for hours.

So many people's perception of Burt Reynolds are post-Bandit/Cannonball Run when his roles and his public persona morphed into one big…Burt-like creature. But he had some serious acting ability, and he was strong in those early roles.

Ahh Rabun Co.! Scenic and one of my favorite areas to drive.

Where'd you go to school?

Good point.

Hey, Beam's not my first choice, but it's a solid pour.

"Soo…we all hear that banjo music, right?"

A subtle distinction, but I like it.

Ha!

Yep.

The day-for-night is so jarring too. When I watched Deliverance back in the SD/VHS days, I assumed those scenes looked bad because they were made in the early 70s. Nope.

I lived about 30 minutes from the Chattooga River for many years, and the Deliverance jokes come easy. But in spring or fall, it's some of the most beautiful country you'll ever see.

I think Burt is wearing a neoprene vest under his life jacket, not leather.

The only thing I don't like about Deliverance is the day-for-night scenes. Otherwise, it's great. And the music does set the mood so well.

That's it!
