It was inadvertent trolling, which is the most effective kind.

I'm more a fan of Park's earlier work, but in this case I kind of wish it were just a mannered Hitchcock rip (but done a bit better).  A mannered Hitchcock rip is the kind of movie you could take your mother to.

I'm a big fan of Park's other work, but this one didn't really work for me when I saw it at Sundance.  However my viewing conditions were less than ideal, as I lay out in my post in the spoiler space, so I'm looking forward to seeing it again in better circumstances.  I think it will improve on re-evaluation.

Spoiler:  Even if your brother says it's ok for your mother to see this movie, don't take her.   His brain is full of shit.  Your mother will not enjoy this movie.

Yeah, if Dan Harmon hadn't been forced out of Community I'm pretty sure no one would be talking about how different Community is without Dan Harmon.
