"Joking or not" is a silly false dichotomy.  It presumes that the only defense is the, admittedly stupid, "it was just a joke". "It was just a joke" is a very stupid defense because jokes have meaning; being a joke is not simply the negation of meaning.   The problem is that the meaning of jokes is apparently

While his performance was now doubt weirder in Hawaii Five-O,  a fresh faced Christopher Walken showing up as Socrates's son in Barefoot in Athens delighted everyone when we watched it in class.  Perhaps TV movies don't count though.

I was getting all ready to make my "OH YEAH Matthew died!!  Death to boring middle class values! Aristocracy forever!  This is the Crawley family; no one gets out or in without someone dying", but then I accidentally took a nap instead.   So instead I'll leave the season with one more prediction from my brother-in-law.

I've wondered if it can even be considered a spoiler, since it's in not really the culmination of a plot.  It's just a stupid random event.

He's not dead, guys. Dr. Clarkson will tell us he died, but two episodes later it turns out that he was really totally fine.

When Sight and Sound releases their 100 greatest internet animal videos poll the full version of that one better be near the top.

For a time last night the main page auto-refresher became default on all articles.  This was the worst thing on the AV Club all week, and maybe the worst thing ever on the AV Club.

Lack of realism is an oft used and oft stupid criticism.  I nearly flipped out on friends of my parents who went off about Breaking Bad due to what they thought was a lack of realism (as if suburban Mormons would have any fucking clue if it were realistic or not).  There can be a lot of value in heightened drama even

I know complaining about the staff answers is lame.  Having started my post with that sentence, I will naturally completely go against it.  The premise of the question was about media unavailable through both legal and extra legal means, something you'd spend countless hours desperately searching for.  Having to

If only there were a pop culture website that ran a weekly Q&A about the identity of half remembered media.

I would assume that it's because women in real life are either Madonnas or whores, and there's nothing problematic what so ever with that rigid dichotomy.

I thought it was very touching that they're still allowed to see movies together.

Sure women love those Nucky Thompson suits, but would they ever actually date someone with a name like Enoch Thompson? I don't think so!!  See, you can use anything to justify silly misogyny.  It's great.

As cruel as we are now, it's nothing compared to how bad we were five years ago.  Jesus Christ this place was toxic back then.

@avclub-fe667cc638187e2a2ed9661c0b94f457:disqus, it sounds she's not holding on to him loving her forever anymore.  She's now using him as a piece on the side just as much as he is her.  Would you turn down the occasional casual sex from an insanely attractive woman, even if you knew nothing would come of it?  I

I agree completely.  It's just a conceit of a new medium, a new way of telling stories.  Instead of getting hung up on the technicalities of construction, we should judge the work by the quality of the stories, the characters, and the jokes, just like we would a more conventional comedy.  This is what I believe

No, what we saw in the first two series of the UK Office was the documentary.  They cheat a little bit because in the reality of the show there was no gap between the two series, whereas in real life there was at least a year, but I think it's clear that what we saw is what was shown within the universe of the show.

I took it to mean that he preferred post-Larry David Seinfeld to no Seinfeld at all because there was no Seinfeld before Larry David.

And here I thought nothing was ever allowed to enter the public domain anymore.  Perhaps that only applies to the Disney corporation.

This thread is now about that horrible Anne of Green Gables cover.  Is this the worst book cover ever?  It's certainly the worst I've ever seen.
