I agree.  Cuts and changes are important and inevitable in process adaptation.  I just wish the cut material was replaced with dynamic cinema instead of long, boring screenwriterly speeches.

I played the "everytime you're bored take a drink" drinking game.  It's not quite as formal as yours, but I found it equally effective.

As far as I know he was right though, Winston Churchill never met Idi Amin.  Not sure how it was really relevant, but at least it was factual

I was eagerly waiting for this article so I could be the first one to make the classic Danny Boyle "the first two hours were good, but the last hour was shit" joke, but it was so long in coming that I got drunk instead and totally forgot until now.  I guess all I have to say about the actual ceremony is that I enjoyed

I haven't gotten around to The Descendants yet.  If I were to talk about The Descendents here is where I would do so.

I was talking about LMS, which is why I replied to the comment on that film and not the one on The Decedents.  Alexander Payne is the epitome of keenly observed human comedy.

My first thought was how appropriate that they're all dressed in black in the photo.  My second was I've been reading too much GRRM

I'd say light and goofy is fair description of the tone.  Sure it has the moments of darkness, but that's not the prevailing mood.  I say this in a light and goofy positive manner.  I think the indie label that got attached to the film led some of the critics around these parts to be way too harsh.  They judged it as

It's seeped into the conversation enough that I've seen people use it with no idea what it actually means.  The negative connotation it usually carries in these parts has led some to use it as a pejorative for any wish fulfillment girlfriend, when really the MPDG is a very specific type of of wish fulfillment

I'm apprehensive about this news.

Believability isn't my issue with it.  It's more that the criticism of our serial killer obsessed culture was pretty damn obvious and presented nothing new to that argument.  Still overall it's an entertaining enough story.  I don't think the fifth season is bad.

Yeah, Chang had some good moments in seasons 2 and 3, but the show couldn't overcome him being superfluous.

The serial killer plot was problematic, but McNulty wasn't the problem.  Putting him in a position of authority was good for the character.
