Land Rover has three sub-brands:

I have no sympathy for those who chose to buy a larger less fuel efficient vehicles when a smaller more efficient one would have sufficed over the last 10 years. Everyone should plan for fuel prices to go up and for them to fluctuate more than other recurring bills (gas, power, water will all go up, but they don’t

“People are still fueling up, despite these high prices,”

To be fair, you as a Jalopnik commenter might not be the typical car buyer.

I feel like a huge part of the problem are those 178 rail crossings over just 66.5 miles. That’s a rail crossing every 1,973 feet (601 meters) compared to one every 9,916 feet (3,022 meters) for CalTrain. That’s more than five times the number of railway crossings per unit distance, which is just another way of saying

We are coming back with teeth and a backbone!

“Protesting” a.k.a. driving around being astroturf incarnate is better than going back to dealing with brokers and getting loads from one place to another. Basically, they don’t wanna work because grifting is easier.

The Scieno cult isn’t a religion, and they’re not “a balm” in any way or shape; they’re a bunch of fucking emotional (and economic) vampires and scammers who abuse and exploit their victims through methods ranging from mindgames to outright blackmail and even kidnapping.

It might seem that celebrity Scientologists are naive or misguided, but it’s all an act designed to protect their place in pop culture.

I don’t understand. I enjoy my freedom. I don’t ride a bike nor drive a giant diesel truck. But if that makes you happy, whatever. So, why would I intentionally do something stupid and dangerous to someone that enjoys something that doesn’t bother or hurt me?

$2500 for a new engine, quit whining, that is a good deal for a car long out of warranty

Congratulations but it appears you are the one being smug and making a lot of assumptions. Perhaps he paid for the EV in full? Maybe he is in a financial position to do that or put a large down payment on a car they enjoy driving. Not everyone is as miserable as you are.

@1st gear: Look. I get it. SUVs aren’t your thing. But they’re America’s thing right now. This site, being about celebrating all things automotive, should embrace all forms of automotive transportation, instead of shitting on the most popular vehicle choice in all of America.

I prefer this one.

They didn’t change much on that car for the last few years they built it. So all the bugaboos are known - and from what I can tell, there weren’t a lot of them. As in, sure, it’s not an exciting vehicle, and it may not be in the same class as Toyotas when it comes to making it to 250k+ miles with minimal maintenance

I’m wondering if they were military personnel coming back to the US after being stationed in Europe?

I was the 37th owner of a VW bus aboard the Naval Station at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (before it became famous). The front face of the Type 2 had rusted away into shapes that were quite clearly teeth, it was missing about four feet of floor, and badly spray painted on the left side were the words “No Fat Chicks.” All

Meh, I’ve ridden 200 pound bikes and I’ve ridden 1000 pound bikes. It’s a mindset change, but I can hustle both.

You clearly haven’t ridden one. Weight doesnt matter on a bike to good riders. And the weight is not bad, not Ninja 400 low, but also it is there, but manageable. I have owned and raced bikes since I was 21 (plus dirt bikes when i was kid but not that much) so 21 years…and nothing is like the Livewire I demo’d.
