I totally agree it’s probably the coolest looking American car ever made (I am partial to 68s specifically), but what makes the sheet metal any more complex than any other vehicle of the era?

Yeah, it’s hard to tell what’s really significant. The only thing I can really tell is NY somehow has a low rate of deaths compared to California, Texas, & Florida, but that’s only a ballpark because like most people I know exactly how many people live in those states other than it’s a lot closer than the total deaths

Want to bet the margins on this are higher than the margins on most of their non-4xe models?

I mean true, all cars are getting more expensive, but Jeeps seem to be increasing faster than everyone else. This pricing is on par with a diesel Tahoes & Yukons. An XC90 Recharge & X5e is within spitting distance and an e-tron SUV isn’t that much farther off either. Since when were midsize Jeeps more expensive than

It’s got a small handful of Mercedes parts on it, that totally means it’s a Mercedes platform! /s

A kid I went to college with had an A4 wagon that he swapped a VR6 into and then turbo’d it along with a bunch of other upgrades. IIRC it had like 800 awhp. Thing was awesome, but regularly had issues.

Yeah. I guess my question is, why did this die out, yet VW group still uses V6s and still develops new V6s. What makes a traditional V6 less prone to phase out, or I guess a more suitable today than a VR6? I mean, VW group chose to go back to “traditional” V6s and supercharge & turbo them instead of looking at doing

That’s probably true. I would think though that the other benefits would still be there though over traditional stuff. VR6 has half as many heads & camshafts, and a much more simple timing chain setup compared to Audi’s V6 TFSI. It also has all the intake ports on one side of the block and all exhaust ports on the

I always wish these caught on more than they did. They just sound so much better than most other V6s. There’s gotta be a reason that VW opted not to turbo or supercharge these, right? I mean, it’s VW for god sakes, the land engineers who have the attitude “well it is 3x as complex for a 5% improvement, totally worth

You can say that about any V6 though, not specifically the VR stuff.

Yeah. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen. I’m arguing about the most common, or typical person. I think it’s much more likely that the typical person doesn’t go inside at all. The vast majority of miles are driven commuting or running errands. You really think people are going to stop and eat inside of a gas station and

This is also why I think the focus on efficiency is really dumb. Why is it worse if I drive a 7mpg car, but only drive 5k miles while others might drive a 20mpg car 20k miles? They are burning more gas than I am overall. I get snooty responses from old friends because my cars do get horrible MPGs, and they are in

The only place I’ve regularly seen that is Bucees, and they are a huge exception. No where else have I seen people regularly leave their cars sitting at the pump to do anything more than maybe run inside to grab a quick snack/drink and be on there way. I’d wager the vast majority of people have their car sitting at

Yup. I think the global backtracking on nuclear since the 70s is one of our greatest mistakes.

That last statement isn’t correct. Germany isn’t replacing nuclear with coal. They are choosing to phase out both. It’s just that nuclear’s timeline is shorter. There will be no increase in coal to make up for the loss of nuclear. 76 of their 84 existing coal plants are scheduled to close by 2030.

So no test drive or even checking it out in person before the buy?

It’s not like Amazon is like “oh, lots of EPI pens got stolen, let’s increase the price, mwaaa ha ha”. That is pure fiction, just like what you see on TV.”

Yeah, I noticed that too. Those wheels look great. Anyone know where I can get a similar 2 or 3 piece minilite style wheel like that? I’m only finding single piece ones.

Oh, the new vs used schtick...... I’m looking for a NEW car, or in the very least a used CPO vehicle. Even then, I am looking at a Charger primarily because it is a big, V8 sedan. Only 5 of your 12 shitty recommendations are even that, and of those 5, only 4 currently available new. All 4 are over 2x the price new to

So? You can’t name a better bang for the buck it seems.
