What are the chances this ends up like the PT Cruiser? Sold almost exclusively to old people trying to relive their youth and gaining a less than favorable reputation because of it? I mean, it’s got a similar retro vibe and even the name has the same combo of dumb two letters followed by an actual name.

I mean, you did purposely phrase it like Texas was the only state that didn’t have such a tax.

Na. The vast majority of states don’t have a annual property/excise tax on vehicles that is based on the MSRP or value of the vehicle because they are almost always regressive. I.e. the single mom scrapping by who finally can swing a 5 year old Corolla ends up paying more in taxes than the guy with a half dozen

I’d normally agree with you, but to be 100% fair, any AWD minivan is about 10% more expensive than a comparable CX9. That’s a lot for a lot of people I’d wager. Especially if you don’t have serious plans to regularly use the 3rd row and would value a sportier ride & handling over the usability of a minivan.

Noxudol, which Toyota uses

You really think he was paying to insure a junkyards worth of nonrunning cars? The $400 only goes to cars that had active policies on the 31st of October. So David will probably get like $800 or $1200 whatever for the 2 or 3 running vehicles he has, not $4800 for the 12 heaps he owns or whatever the actual number is.

carbon brake package and they were hot trash in the city and in traffic.

+ Classic/collector cars are usually exempt from state mandated inspections

I mean, you are showing an old ass 911. New ones are at least tolerable for a short jaunt for an adult in the back.

So by that logic no one should want any classic car, cause ya know, modern ones are totally the same thing just with more power, right?

Bullitt is the easy go to, right? Maybe a bit too car focused?

I mean, I get what you’re saying; but also sport trucks like this are just fun in a different way. It’s not like it is any less useful than a Miata. You just get big noise, big power, (relatively) fast speeds, and burnouts instead of tight handling and slow speeds like a Miata. Different strokes for different folks.

So ahhh, where is a single cab shortbed Sierra with at least similar sporty suspension and 0-60 times?

My wife sees cars as appliances and doesn’t understand why I like cars so much. However, she loves the traditional Top Gear hosts. So does my mom. So do my in-laws. Lots of non car people like Top Gear because it doesn’t actually get that detailed into the cars themselves. They just use cars as a tool to tell funny,

I mean, with that logic, do you even need a car? I’m sure you could technically get anywhere you need by foot, bicycle, or public transport. At best, if you do truly need a car, I’m sure a 91 Civic hatch would meet all your needs. Let’s be real here, your need for a car isn’t any more real or significant than parents

Exactly. I have a double cab Tacoma, people are surprised at how poorly a modern car seat fits in it. Modern, rear facing child seats take up a ton of space. Modern booster seats take up a ton of space.

I bet the cool grid taillights make it through too.

How does that help with distracted driving and poor driver behavior at all?

I’m a firm believer that a Suzuki SV650 is one of the best beginner bikes. Mild enough to not be dangerously dumb, peppy enough to be fun for a long while after you start, big enough for most people, comfortable enough for most uses, etc. Yeah, it’s not glamorous or very good looking; but it’s reliable, affordable, and
