1) I state here, flatly, in case some of you don't know, that the maximum acceleration a car can achieve, when the coefficient of frction between its tires and the road is 1, is the acceleration of gravity for the planetary object you are racing on — unless, of course, you strap on rockets. On Earth, that acceleration…
It's not that the math is wrong. It's that the assumptions are not as accurate as they could be. Still, for someone that doesn't do racing, as I assume NDGT doesn't, the assumptions are pretty good.
He addressed that.
My mistake, I misinterpreted paragraph 2. I reread it and now I understand what he was saying. My apologies.
There are a lot of morons in this thread. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT HE SAYS ABOUT THE FRICTION COEFFICIENT. Clearly cars that go faster have a higher friction coefficient than 1!
The world needs more people like him.
The de Grasse Tyson has spoken. Thus endeth the lesson.
If there's one thing non-car-people take from Rush, I hope it's the realization that cars and car racing are sporting endeavours where men and machines are taken to the extreme — extreme power, extreme cornering, extreme g-forces, extreme endurance.
I want this movie NOW!
Yeah I know, I just wanted to use that GIF because I'm a butthole.
It's here where I should note that it's faster, per MotorTrend, around a race course than a BRZ is.
Not really, I kinda skipped over the crappy part. but seeing the older Datsuns, and Opels always makes me want to shout out to the escort.
The thing is, that orange car is PLENTY low. Why do people insist on super duper, unusable, handles like crap, rides like crap low?
I thought it was obvious....
Incredible that the car actually melted, but the powdercoat on the wheels doesn't even look blistered.
Meanwhile, at Carbon Motors' former company headquarters...
The Driver wouldn't have been able to do what he did without the Jeep, and the Jeep's winch... The Jeep was just as much a part of the heroism as the Driver was. They were both heroes that day.
Ohio plate...
Ohio produced John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, William McKinley, and now STOMPER...
No, it's not that. I want my 2 minutes and 41 seconds of life back.
