Adaptations of books help support the people who made the books. Unless they’re one of the rare mega-name authors, adaptations are great advertising for new readers to read the originals.

‘...and yet, here we are, Boneless once again’. Story of my damn life....

Netflix cancels Bone, Hulu cancels Y The Last Man. Comics are smarter than streaming services.

Charles Schulz, no “t”. I realize it’s an unusual spelling that undoubtedly trips up every autocomplete, autocorrect, and grammar checker from here to Topeka, but when you’re writing about comics you need to keep an eye out for that mistake.

As a southerner steeped in the tradition of drawled backhanded compliments and innocently polite insults, I salute your cruel and savage agreement.

Can’t wait!

Recall how snippy he got at Ned Ryerson.

Blues Brothers 2000

Yeah, if there was a scheduling issue or a contract dispute, they’d say more than that.

I think we’re about to hear some unpleasant stuff in the coming days.

I loved the guy who they had playing Asimov, too (imdb informs me it was Chet Grissom) . Only had a couple lines, but he perfectly captured the wry sense of humor that was key to making the whole plotline work plausibly.

Those two episodes were incredible.

That’s a bummer. His character was one of the many clever bits on the show (if not always the best written in C plots). At least we got the spectacular “Backstory” two part story in this last season, which left his character’s arc in about as a good a place as it could.

Probably got fired for outfit-tracking.

Hiemoth, do you hate trans people? You’ve reiterated yourself a lot here arguing that the drop-off can’t possibly be about her transphobia. Little bit suspect.

The main demographic for this third film the studio was targeting are those very “woke people” as you slight them, the young adults who still felt a childhood connection for this franchise and world despite the bump of the previous film not being received particularly well. It’s why all the marketing for this film

Solid take on the character IMO. A Hannibal Lecter-esque version of the Joker who isn’t a villain but Batman’s insufferable psycho consultant sounds like a cool idea within that universe and brings a cool wrinkle to their whole weird, co-dependent relationship. I hope this will be his role.

I see why it was cut, but I wouldn’t have minded having it in the film. The “it’s almost our anniversary” bit is some of the only insight we get into Batman’s first two years before the start of the film, like oh cool he brought in the Joker, he hasn’t just been beating up street toughs for 2 years.

The 5 minutes fly by, so I guess it’s a good scene in and of itself. Hell, at numbing 3 hours, what’s another 5 minutes anyway? Can concerns about pacing hold much weight when the movie’s already bloated as it is?

Just got back from The Batman. Might be recency bias, but I’d put Dano’s Riddler much higher, like around the top ten. He’s not that menacing out of costume, because he’s Paul Dano. But he’s believably, realistically unhinged. He brought to mind the pathetic, squirming killer in Dirty Harry. Which is appropriate, both
