If I could add my random thoughts to your random thoughts:

It’s such a tiny role that I pulled a double-take when she’s first on screen, because I couldn’t understand Barrymore having a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role in a Batman movie. It was “I wonder who that actress is who looks like Drew Barrymore.”

YES. Riddler is far and away my favorite villain, and Carrey was ruinously bad for the role. I mean, he was fine for what Schumacher clearly wanted based on the script, but that flick utterly missed the point of the character.

I would’ve been 12 when this came out but already I thought Carrey was a bad choice for the Riddler, who (and I was basing a lot of this judgment on B:TAS) was always a bit more intellectual and reserved, he wanted to prove he was smarter than everyone, but wasn’t manic. That was more the Joker’s schtick.
Also, why

...and the wings on top of the Batmobile - they wiggled too.

FWIW my mother is bipolar and not especially well treated for it (she hasn’t seen a proper psychiatrist in decades). Four-figure shopping sprees are a routine occurrence during her manic episodes. Her office is full of unopened packages from any number of online retailers.

I think you’re right. And even the hypomanic episodes normally seen in bipolar II can cause massive problems - I know someone who spent her entire retirement fund, (temporarily) alienated her entire family, lost two homes and racked up a lifetime’s worth of debt (that she was then unable to repay) during a hypomanic

I hope we never find out. Because if we do that means her privacy has been violated badly and she doesn’t deserve that.

I’m fairly convinced that she is consenting to the conservatorship at this point, unless she is much more ill than she appears to be, which seems unlikely. Bipolar disorder, especially manic episodes, can be really scary, and if it was something I experienced I would definitely want safeguards in place to protect my

People who bad mouth the conservatorship clearly don’t remember where Britney was before it. Or have forgotten where Linsday Lohan—-who didn’t have a responsible parent to help her when she fell apart or ever for that matter—-is now.

She is thriving, but that could be because of the conservator set up is working for her. We don’t know all the details so I think it’s kind of harsh the way people constantly shame this set up. Anyway, I hope they keep figuring out what is best for her going forward whether it’s continuing or ending having

Nah, this is in California, which if I recall correctly, is the only state in the Union where you can take the Bar without attending an ABA-accredited law school.

On the one hand, this isn’t really anything since his parents have donated in the past. On the other, LOL.

And they say not enough parents are willing to openly admit that their children are assholes.

The news site notes that Nicholson was once a Democrat, until he switched sides

I was in college during the W. Bush years, and when the second election came around I talked to someone who told me she was voting for Bush because her family was republicans and that was the end of the story. One side of my family is like that too, claiming they’re “all” republican (even though I know for a fact a

That’s fucking brutal, and hilarious.

It’s the vapid one. Well, that and your party affiliation is now like your brand, and Dems are seen as mean, educated, liberals. I’m not sure how looking down on PBR became worse than outright racism, but I don’t watch Fox, so...

This is graduate-level shade. From what I can find out, they didn’t say shit; didn’t say he was a bad son, or that they disowned him or out there crying on television about their “lost boy.” Nothing. They just donated, dropped it like it was hot and probably put on the slightest grin for about two seconds, and then

Hardwick had it right: The Magicians is the new Buffy. And AV Club has decided to shove their head right up their ass instead of covering the tv show that’s gonna get quoted when the *next* meta genre show wants to drop a reference.
