Fun fact. Just about every other large law firm on the planet presents an itemized bill with sub tasks completed, the attorney who completed them, and their billing rate. With Wachtell, you just get a bit fat number with a “for legal services rendered” explanation. If you are not prepared to pay that number, you won’t

I wouldn’t have paid $40k for one of these new.

Calling this car “cool” is like when your mom insisted that those shoes that were on sale at Payless were “cool” to convince you to wear them, even though you knew the kids at school were going to make fun of you for them.

That’s not how EVs work. You don’t get more range by cutting down on power. You need more battery for more range. More battery actually corresponds to more power potential.

You’d assume wrong. Electric motors aren’t like gas motors. A bigger one isn’t necessary less efficient than a smaller one. Part of the reason why many EVs have big power is that the trade offs are minimal compared to big power in a gas car.

Miata remains the answer.

True, and even non-collector cars that don’t fit their profile get lowballed like crazy. If it’s not something they want to turn around put on their lot, they aren’t going to give you fair value for it.

Part of the issue is that used car valuation tools like the blue book tend to not account for classic value. Check KBb for something like a Mkiv VW R32, then go on BAT and check auction results- there’s going to be a yawning gulf. While I’m sure Carmax has its own proprietary valuation software, I highly suspect it

You think you hate it now, but wait till you drive it!

Just because someone is asking does not mean someone is paying.

Never had a terrible experience, but most can be avoided with a few basic strategies:

Sure, you may not be able to turn up in a foreign car, but you still aren’t going to wow anybody with your Corvette. Maybe a z06 for the first few months of release.

My kid would probably draw a race car or a monster truck.

No legit executive is going to be impressed by a Corvette.

More useful in places that get snow- nice when you have a light dusting stuck to the window and don’t want to manually scrape.

Oh please. Nobody struggling to afford basic transport was seriously considering a new A class.

Corporate registration taxes are negligible for a company like Texas. It would be liable for Texas franchise taxes despite being incorporated in Delaware, however.

I think it’s mostly about the switch from the hub and spoke to a more point to point system for long haul travel, which was enabled by smaller efficient twin jets like the 787. Only the world’s largest airports support the A380, limiting its usefulness.

Plus, a crappy old bike is going to be harder to ride in traffic and may have poorly working brakes. Then there’s the fact that they are probably less likely to have a properly fitted helmet that is up to current safety standards (as that costs money).

The disparity isn’t surprising in light of other wealth disparities. Wealthier folks are more likely to be cycling for recreation than basic transport. When you are cycling for recreation, you can choose routes that are pleasant to ride on (and likely safer). When you are riding for basic transport, you may find
