About 2 years ago, there was an incident in my city where a lady delivering pizzas to a house was dragged inside and raped by some dude and his son. (She eventually escaped.)
I’m shocked no one thought to mention that it’s a safety issue. On both sides.

Oh yeah. Everyone does it - if you work in the US and your employer goes out of business, you will be given no more than an hour to get your crap and get out. Most often you will be escorted out (peacefully) by cops.
Hustle you out of the building while you’re still in shock, before the righteous anger sets in and people start making for the office supplies closet.
Go to the doctor if you’re gonna call the health department. Even if you think you can handle it at home with soup & bedrest, having an official diagnosis on hand will only strengthen your case.
Usually I at least try to do the right thing and give at least a week’s notice. The only times I just straight peace’d out of a job with no notice whatsoever were:
