Salo isn't that bad. I watched it in a grad film class. If you've read the Marquis de Sade at all, you know what you're in for.

And the Amanda Knox trial. The articles I read on that case were stunning in how the system is run.

I can understand not wanting to ruin the mystique but having read an awesomely insane and intense breakdown of the film (linked out from Cracked originally: http://collativelearning.com/the%20shining.html) I feel like I like and enjoy the film even more by trying to tease out whether I believe there are layers on

I think she'd prefer a magnum of Diet Dr. Pepper :)

I love that the banned list is basically a slice of the contemporary canon of great literature. I wonder if there is a list of banned books somewhere online that you can check off ala those lists of 100 Foods to eat before you die.

I don't think region has much to do with it. I live in a small town in the South. Two weeks ago, I took a long walk on a Sunday afternoon. Not that it matters because anyone can be harassed but I was wearing a zip up hoodie, sunglasses and yoga culottes in 95 degree weather. I think I'm pretty but I'm at least 100

Ahem. As someone with mild rosacea, I can answer this as NO.

How much fun is it to play the Reverend?

And the rapist from The Notorious Bettie Page! I see him and vacillate between the two.

I'm with you on Tara. I didn't think she was redeemable but I've been loving her this season now that she's able to talk and snark a little. I think it's Pam that makes her likable to me.

Oh how wrong I was. I figured though if the writers were going to invent characters wholesale, they could definitely go that far off book.

There's a really cool series of books like these already out for about 8 countries so far: http://www.menospeak.com/

But but but what if they get Tiffany, Debbi Gibson, and all of Menudo to star?

Wow... that sounds a lot like a "SyFy" summer movie.

Please do! It's really fun to drop in mixed company (and much more entertaining than princess day.)

Thank you voice of reason.

Since my friends and I refer to having our periods as "Shark Week," this headline was particularly funny.

As I was posting, I was looking at the casting for the general and lieutenants and they seem to have cast Korean or Korean-American actors in those roles so I guess that was foresight? Or they would be playing Chinese characters before?

I'm really enjoying all the folks commenting "North Korea couldn't invade X!" the subtext being "This movie isn't realistic and is therefore terrible." I haven't seen any advertising bragging that this film is intended to be any more hyper-realistic than anything Jason Bourne or James Bond is in.

I think you mean where "Kim Jong-Un looks like Wolverines." (p.s. I love that tumblr.)
