Sweetie Des Arts or whatever was slightly more successfully integrated in the book series — she was a replacement chef at Merlotte's — even though it was one of the weaker books in the series. I don't think she would be such a bad addition (I love the actress playing her) if there weren't 800 other new superfluous

I was holding out hope for that fabled movie wrap up that has been whispered about for years but after Nick Stahl started chasing the dragon, I've given up.

When this was first announced, I did my fair share of bellyaching about how a Red Dawn remake couldn't possibly be good. Maybe it will and maybe it won't; this clip doesn't really answer that for me but I'll go see it.

Gah.. I'm watching the episode while reading the re-cap and while I'm going to finish out the season I think I might done after this. The steamy Waldo face in Sookie's bathroom was just too too much.

I want one! But since I'm not planning to get pregnant in Japan (or elsewhere) anytime soon, I'll have to accrue my paperweights elsewhere.

The rest of that article was fairly terrifying — she sounds like a hot pink megalomaniac.

I've been waiting my whole life for a Velvet Goldmine picture to grace an article here, I just didn't know it yet!

That's officially the best birthday present I could ask for.

I figured there was a method to the madness!

I'm glad it's not just me :)

Re: Jena Malone in Catching Fire

My brain is still stuck in 1997 because I didn't realize Kill Rock Stars had changed so much and no longer held the Bikini Kill back catalog. In my head, I could still get a paper catalog and send in a money order in some Hello Kitty Stationary and get my 7"s.

You are very welcome. I made the mistake of continuing on with the books so now I'm constantly disappointed by the show (except when it gives Meredith more fodder for reviews.) I hope this plot point does unfold like in the book simply because I don't think the show needs anymore random plot strands.

Oh I know... that's why I said "for about 5 minutes." It bummed me out because I thought Tara might start being snarkily enjoyable with Jessica.

If they're following the books at all (and this sniper plot seems to be ever so slightly lifted from book 5) the mastermind behind the shooting has a specific shifter vendetta, as opposed to a were/shifter vendetta.

Nope. They had a meet-cute at the bar and they were vampy besties for about 5 minutes. I know it was ham-fisted and I loathe Tara but that was a nice moment for me.

I'm "take or leave it" on P.T. Anderson as a director but this film has me really excited. I agree that it's too soon to say whether or not this will be a hard look at Scientology but the two short clips we've seen are promising that it'll give us the beginnings.

You made my day with this.

I'm really bad about finding a new author I like and then denying myself the pleasure of reading all of their books all at once (i.e. Angela Carter; since she's dead I don't want to run out of books of hers to read) and by the time I get back around to them, I'm not nearly as enamored as I was with them before.
