@Malcontent79: I was surprised that monkey beat out dragon or tiger.

edit: I was re-stating the obvious. Nuts.

@tattooedjunecleaver: I'm in NC so I'll do my best to be there. Are there plans for specific signs?

I started reading these and I just can't do it... I've had way too many cringe inducing dates that this hurts my heart.

@Sean: I only wish Catherine Hardwicke had bothered to read Angela Carter! (I'll watch this either way.)

@Gilese: You pretty much put words to all my frustrations with this book- the writing showed me a gorgeous and opulent experience that I could invest in because I didn't care anything about the characters (after I waded through the purple prose.) Thanks for putting it more eloquently first.

@collex: Ok- one of the even smaller handful of smart, beautiful, funny fat women working in Germany.

@fmhypo: No- it'll be Gwyneth Paltrow ala Shallow Hal rather then hiring one of the tiny handful of smart, beautiful, funny fat women working in Hollywood.

That would be me in my hand felted Gloomy bear (google it yo) hoodie and some nasty tasting tempura paint. My best friend has a matching one and we spent the night terrorizing my roommate who was dressed as our little boy victim.

@JesWalHok: I'm within 50 miles of Oxford and heard nothing about it locally. I think the lack of coverage is about white-washing though. If this kid wasn't white and upper middle class, it would have been all over the Raleigh paper as "OMG Terrorists are coming to North Cackalack!"

@dropthepilot: I was all primed to make a "Go Ask Alice" joke here when I realized you referenced A.M. Homes instead. I'm with you on the creepy shivers.

@Adalwin: D'you mean you won't see him because panther/cougar/mountain lions are super duper stealth or because Simba will have already killed you dead?

@kityglitr: It seems like there aren't a lot of vintage black pin-up girls that don't have some kind of racist element to them. There's an interesting blog post about the dearth of good examples here. Hopefully you can find some positive ones out in the interwebs.

I saw it last night after loving the books for ages and I was not the least bit disappointed.

My first Hitachi was a gift from my mom (!) and last me for 9 years. I always condomed it on the red days and it worked like a dreaaaam. I almost considered burying it under a headstone when I retired it for a new one. "Here lies Maxwell Demon." (Hush...I was rilly into Velvet Goldmine at the time.)

@junior ghoul: Ok, finance his next documentary about the homeless
