My 360 is gathering dust and I'm back on my PC. Not going to blame this solely on adverts, but being greeted with them as I slog through the ever-more-annoying GUI doesn't particularly attach me to the thing.
The dreamcast was great - and still one of my favourite consoles.
Nobody likes spending money (myself included) but it's completely unreasonably to expect MS to provide the same experience to XP users as those using their latest and greatest OS (and whilst some of the hops have been incremental - some are not).

Yes - but I somehow have managed to accept that as part of 'using steam' - and the benefits outweight the restrictions for me. Having my games available on all my PCs, stupidly cheap sales etc.

I guess it depends what you like.
I think the main point is that pretty much all medium; games, films, books etc are escapism. All those things you think about, but don't do and quite frankly don't want to do - well you can taste them by consuming media.
