I believe the dealer would’ve offered some amount under what they believed they could’ve resold the vehicle for, and yes, I believe that amount would’ve been over original sticker, but clearly not to the original markup amount implied in the story given.

I followed this auction and I think I understand where the seller is coming from. For the past 2 years, it’s been incredibly difficult to get any cars, let alone limited enthusiast cars. He (or she) puts their name on a few lists and the Corolla comes up. Great—I’ll buy it.

Budget: up to $30,000

COTD.  thanks for the laugh

Just depends on what toys a kid grew up with. Classics like Bag o’ glass, Teddy Chainsaw Bear, and Johnny Switchblade. “We’re just packaging what the kids want.”

I read through all of the comments but saw no Lotus Esprit nor Evora (probably NA Evora in this price range). Not all will fit the budget but you can get in and bang your head mercilessly on your love/hate relationship. As far as online community, I find it kind of repetitive—mainly “I wanted to stand out from the

smize-inducing,” “Jetsonian-propulsion” is the kind of clever C&D writing making this place respectable again. Nice job! Ed., renew my subscription!

I actually did this for the 20th reunion: 2012 Mustang GT vert. Racing my friend to the gathering spot in his Jeep SRT Cherokee. I had him until I bounced the rev limiter and fuel cutoff in 2nd, and I’m still kind of salty about that. As for the reunion, no one actually saw us pull up, so I guess it didn’t matter.

My current car, because if I wasn’t really interested in impressing these people when I went to school, why would I care now?

I would arrive rocking Weird Al, as well - because I may as well return in the same way that I left.

silly rabbit, subway stairs are for Minis!

haha-right!  He had good hair though, so there’s that.

Useless trivia. Steve McQueen’s son Chad recreated the movie jump in one of these when new:

I’m going to second this for another reason. I really wanted to like these (love Honda...manuals...hondamanuals) and found the one I test drove a few years ago just “ok,” not really all that sporty feeling. Now that we can’t have v6 manual accords any more, I know they’re going to be deified (already are in some

See my edit—at first glance I thought this was the Grand Wagoneer. I think the Grand Cherokee is pretty handsome overall.

Edit: thought this was a grand wagoneer (wondering why it looked nicer here). Agree with this suggestion.

Ack!  I remember doing that as a kid too (at least once).  Gives me the heebie jeebies to think about that again and how the clock starts ticking immediately once closed---open, open, open the door!!!

I was thinking the car from Major League? Willie Mays Hayes?

At least you can polish the fenders.
