He actually did update the Jack and Diane story in the 90's. It's been a long time since I've heard it but I don't think it ends well.

The John Prine version is decent, in a delightfully creepy way.

I'd love to be the contrarian vote, but I just can't do it. YES, listen to pretty much every one of his albums right now. All at once. The only way to truly experience Mountain Goats.

Wait a minute, we don't like Pepe The King Prawn now? When did that happen?

I always wondered why they even bothered rebuilding Tokyo after like the fifth giant monster attack. Year after year, Tokyo gets it.

Especially in the 60's. Ahh, Mie Hama…

It's one of a few random subjects I know way too much about. Hasn't really helped me much in the real world.

Love this movie. Also worth mentioning - the kick ass score by Masaru Sato, who scored most of Kurosawa's best movies.

Yup, that's the one. Although, he did have a habit of sneaking behind buildings to make his entrance in the 70"s.

Wrong Mecha-Godzilla movie. That's the next one, "Terror of Mecha-Godzilla." A stronger film in general, but not nearly as fun. But Titanosaurus was awesome.

Mothra, Atragon and The Mysterians have issues with this statement.

The sucky part is, originally the director wanted Varan and Angilas instead of Mothra and Ghidorah, but the studio said no. It would have made a lot more sense, plus Angilas rocks.

Cool as Ghidorah is in that movie, everything between when Barugon shows up and Godzilla kicks his ass is Godzilla moviemaking at its finest.

Why has this not happened yet?

"Mothra Vs. Godzilla" is really great. It's pretty much the quintessential 60's cheesy-fun Godzilla movie, with the bonus of Godzilla still being a bad guy. Plus, the stuff with the human actors actually intersects with all the monster stuff, and the Godzilla suit gets set on fire which just looks cool.

That's actually not true. Mecha-Ghidorah doesn't show up til the 90's, by that point it was a brand new suit.

Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah is great. The time travel shit is so screwed up, I get a headache just thinking about it, but it's still so much fun.

My absolute favorite is "Mothra Vs. Godzilla," but I'm also partial to Biollante and GMK. And the original, of course. You?

By no means my favorite G-film, but it is where my screen name comes from. (It's the Japanese name for the little victory dance Godzilla does on Planet X.)

I especially love how he goes to Japan specifically to see his old college friend Serizawa, but somehow never manages to meet up with him. He "meets" the other main characters in the movie, but doesn't actually talk to his good friend. You'd think he might have helped convince the guy to use the Oxygen Destroyer,
