Uber is not a sustainable model. The attrition rate is huge. Unless they can get autonomous cars up and running (15 years in my opinion), they will run out of drivers, or the quality of the driver and car will drop so low that cabs become attractive.

If this guy is netting $12.50 an hour, he is above the national average of $8 an hour or so for most Uber drivers.

This is a huge problem that is not talked about enough. The average cost of a decent new car is over $30k and this is not an affordable option to many lower earners. Churning low down payment leases doesn’t help, as they run out and they are left with no car and no equity.
