I can say that a heavy manual trans equipped truck with throttle by wire can be a frustrating experience in slow technical situations. I don’t do much off-roading but something as simple as backing a trailer down a long trail in the woods gets pretty frustrating when your on and off the clutch a bunch of times and

I’ll take my chances in the Junkyard vs going to Wal-Mart any day of the week.

Same here, when I used to travel for work I would hit up any local pick-n-pull type yards in my free time, they are never in a nice neighborhood, but I’ve never felt unsafe inside of one. I always thought I met the nicest people at the Junkyard.

Came here for this

My car is pretty good about telling you what RPM it’s at: hold the throttle to the point where the dash stops vibrating but the mirror is still blurry = 25mph in 2nd.

I think the Cayenne has aged much better than the ML, and yes there are some good deals out there on them once they get up north of 100k miles.

By 1963 Plymouth was using electric wipers. I can’t remember if they were more than one speed, but they worked way better than the vacuum wipers in a friend’s Ford.

My 63 Savoy had the opposed style wipers, they worked well until about 45mph at which point aerodynamics overcame the worn out linkage and the blades would go off either side of the windshield and get stuck. Got used to either driving slowly in the rain or pulling over a lot to fix them.

A friend in high school drove a 61 Falcon with a tired old 170 straight six missing most of it’s compression. Those vacuum wipers wouldn’t move at anything over about 1/4 throttle which made it fun in the rain.

What if the track is 250 miles from your house?

Mr Yu can expect to get pulled over in about a month and surrounded by officers with guns drawn, roughed up a little bit and questioned because somebody at the station forgot to take the car off the stolen vehicle list. At least that’s how local police handle recovered vehicles here.

So is this a steering transmission now?

I would argue that a transaxle is a type of transmission, but I do call the thing full of gears behind the engine a “transmission” most frequently, even on my traverse mounted fwd cars.

No doubt, I can’t just casually say “I need to do some trans work before I’m ready for Drag week” around the office without getting some strange looks.

Vette was probably in the trailer which was attached to the F-350 which is super easy to steal. The Super-Duty era F-250/350 get stolen all the time, and an enclosed trailer is a ripe target for thieves because they assume there is something of value inside.

I’ve had an LC90 since the holidays and it’s a great light, a deal at $22 for sure. Outperforms all my older more expensive lights.

Pretty much, one of the requirements on the screen is that the hood is open. Most of the time my routine at the strip is make a run, get back in line with the hood open while waiting to let things cool down.

The C-HR stands for “Coupe High-Rider,”

I could hack your ride with a coat hanger and flatblade screwdriver

Looks like a U400. Unimogs are awesome, i would totally subscribe to Unimoglopnik if it was a thing.
