I don’t see it as quite the same. I figure it was the devs finding a way to give themselves more time to work on seasonal features while also making sure (for the first year at least) those seasonal features weren’t “spoiled” or shown off early.
As someone who doesn’t use time traveling in AC, the biggest change for me

The way I see it: Vaan is the audience insert within the Greek/Shakespearean tragedy that is FF12, and the true story is supposed to revolve around Basch, Ashe, and Balthier.

I know people who think there are other best trilogies; Star Wars, Dollars, El Mariachi, Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings, etc.

Yes, exactly that. Video game graphics and presentation have hit a plateau of sorts. We’re never getting something as stylish and creative as The World Ends With You or even Professor Layton again out of a AAA studio. With handheld consoles being such a strictly limited format, major companies could pour AAA-level

This is the worst thing to happen in 2020.

I completely agree - my biggest issue with Advent Children is that almost all of the characters feel like caricatures of themselves at best or completely misunderstood representations at worst, not like the beloved cast that struggled, grew, and overcame massive obstacles over the course of a global battle. Cloud was

The most frustrating part is that for its many faults, FF8 already did the part where they deconstruct rule of cool by showing you how much a fucking mess that kind of hero is, not in a “cool brooding” way but a “cripplingly disconnected from people in a way that gives him severe anxiety” way (y’know, in case Cloud’s

Advent Children is very much the Donnie Darko of CGI anime follow-ups to critically acclaimed games. Both are gorgeous and messy with plots that only start to make coherent sense if you watch the extended version plus supplemental material, and both inspire a similar life cycle of viewership.

The problem with a lot of FF—and I’d argue this was a thing starting with Kingdom Hearts/Advent Children is that these things were first and foremost solely concerned with “the rule of cool,” but instead of doing the legwork to make, any of it matter beyond “shit looks cool,” it just settles on having characters yell

I’ll credit Chuck for sticking to his guns here, he’s explained why he’s absent from the game on Inside the NBA for the last few years.

Since anime rarely comes up around these parts, I’d like to try and tell people that Mob Psycho is a legit entertaining show that you should check out even if you don’t like a lot of anime. It’s got action and humor and a lot of heart. And it has a good dub too, if reading subtitles just puts you off!

Despite its flaws, I honestly love this movie. It’s an absolute blast and a joy to watch. Hanks’ performance is incredible.

actually that’s a good way to put it. both are game types that are usually crafted to appeal to “harcore” gamers (i.e. battle royales and FPSs) but these were constructed in a way that makes them more accessible to those less inclined to those genres and it totally works

Fall Guys reminds me of Splatoon in that both are cute and colorful, have great music and are the only online games I’ve really been into in a long time.

So, there’s this scene in The Two Towers where the orcs begin murdering each other over whether to eat the Hobbits alive or bring them to Saruman, who will torture them to death.

I think Caroline’s reviews have been (mostly) on point. You don’t need to be The Wire to wish Ben got more material this season so that his sacrifice would have more weight to it. That Diego’s plot concludes without him really learning anything is a fair observation. I mean, this is just...good criticism?
