Tragically, this defense might work, or at least mitigate the sentence a bit. And I bet these two think everyone will believe them. She’s made a living being adored on Hallmark for years and she think’s that’s real life.

She was on a starvation diet for years, apparently. I’m amazed she hasn’t broken a hip yet.

Some horrible, mutated form of life is definitely spawning in there.

Oh, check out Bait and Switch, by Barbara Ehrenreich. It’s ALLLLL about the razor-thin margin of “middle class” work and how these kinds of scam artists can make a living off the desperation of workers and companies trying to keep above the blue collar level of prestige (but not pay.)

Hey, it’s a niche market!

Yeah; basically, anything that doesn’t involve eating, peeing/shitting, or obtaining shelter isn’t something you strictly “need” to do. He didn’t need to do any of this crap, he wanted to.

One of the dirty little secrets of STEM careers is the nearly fascistic worship of youth and “young blood” in those fields, particularly physics and math. It’s what lead to the worship of people like Gates and Jobs, for dropping out of Ivy League schools, and indirectly to the entire Thanatos debacle. Basically,

The saddest part is, I actually enjoyed the learning part of college. I liked most of my classes and developed a depth of knowledge that makes my life richer to this day. Too bad that’s barely an afterthought in today’s rat race/money Jenga tower that is higher education.

Plus, the current STEM trend is just that—a trend. The market will be flooded in the next five years with masses of graduates who will  be paying off their MIT degree until they’re ninety because there’s so many qualified engineers, etc., that companies won’t pay them dick, plus another wave of people who didn’t even
