Thanks to piracy, the first 50 years of video games are much, much better preserved than the first 50 years of film or television or any other medium you could name. Imagine how much greater our cultural legacy would be if we’d had widespread piracy in the early days of film or television.
Every study like this ought

Cringing so hard at the dude telling the world he wouldn’t have sex with a girl he has zero chance of ever even dating. What a loser.

This seems like Screenwriting 101. Do you start the movie introducing your villain stomping on a bunch of nobodies last seen four years and nine movies ago, or do you pick up right where Ragnarok left off and start with Thanos defeating the Hulk and killing Thor’s brother right in front of him?
I thought it was bold

I read it as, “Well, as long as the news outlets don’t run front page articles YOU CAN CUT PEOPLE’S ARMS OFF IN THIS NEW STAR WARS GAME, Disney will probably let us leave it in.”

There are several GBA Spider-Man games that deserve to be in the top half of this list.

So basically, they’re taking it out because Kotaku made such a huge noise about it that the mainstream press and people who aren’t gamers started noticing.

Kotaku: VAGINAS! They put high-resolution FULL-FRONTAL VAGINAS in the Witcher 3! Click HERE to see those NEXT-GEN VAGINAS!

also Kotaku: Gee, for some reason CDPR is backpedaling and doesn’t want to talk about the VAGINAS (they NERFED the VAGINAS!) Isn’t it strange that people are making a big deal about a few REALISTIC

That Wolverine buff is gonna cause a big bump in decks using Armor.

It has been TWENTY-SIX YEARS since I played this and I still remembered the feel of every single one of the weapons in that video

I got into this game on my phone and when I heard it was also on Steam, I was so excited - with the game spread out on a big monitor, I’ll be able to read the location descriptions without killing my eyes!
Ha. If anything, the text is *smaller* on my PC screen than on my phone. I would love to have a proper PC port

The first time I played Odin on an empty Bar Sinister cracked me up. It took *forever*. The second time I did it felt like griefing.

Minecraft had this problem, but it appears to have been adequately resolved by the player base.

You could say the same thing about graphics. A good game doesn’t *need* the most-advanced graphics possible, but good graphics can make a game better. A good story doesn’t need surprises, but surprises can make a story more enjoyable. So it kinda sucks to not have a decent graphics card or to have a good surprise

“Tears of the Kingdom” seems sufficiently parallel to “Breath of the Wild” to make it sound like a sequel. Next you’re gonna say “Aria of Sorrow” should have been called “Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance 2.”

Sure, but it’s worth noticing that the default placeholder is always dudebro. Every game is about dudebro unless somebody goes out of their way to choose someone different.

That at least makes some sense if you figure you’re supposed to mostly have your left thumb on the stick and your right thumb on the face buttons, with the right stick just being an auxiliary control.

As a PC gamer who has only occasionally used a controller, something about the Xbox controller design baffles me. You pick it up and seems designed to be held like a gun with your index fingers on the analog triggers. But then you have those bumpers above that? So either you hold it weird with your middle fingers on

Love that he thinks Valve needs the revenue from his game. They probably made more from CS:GO skins last month than they would from this guy for the lifetime of his game.

I understood the reviewer to be saying that because Hollywood has so often gotten stuck on the trope of gender ambiguity = evil, including in big classic movies like these, it’s disappointing to see new movies/games recycling that same trope again. It’s not saying any one particular use of the trope necessarily ruins

I have similar feelings about it. I thought sure it was impossible to add DLC onto the game or make a direct sequel, but the way they integrated Echoes of the Eye was masterful. And the main thing you discover is something I’ve loved the idea of in science fiction for a long time but never been able to *experience* so
