Counterpoint, perhaps.

“wouldn’t say that. I can’t say that at all.”

You seem to be under the impression that professional athletes are a boon to a society. I would have to argue they are anything but, and that the U.S. would be a better place without the cult of worship around professional athletes. (or other celebrities, for that matter, though professional athletes in particular, as

I would assume the argument is that asylum seekers should be fleeing for their lives from persecution, and hoping to return to their homes if/when the source of that persecution is removed. Not simply looking for a better job.

So the movie is going to be about how the ghosts are running scared from these evil deities trying to bring about hell on earth, and intentionally creating disturbances to get the attention of the ghostbusters in order to stop them?

After he’s been prosecuted for violating California law, we can talk about what’s punishment enough or not.

an act that’s illegal in the state of California

Just throwing out a theory, but I would suggest the fact that he could have easily kept strangling her until she died, but didn’t, would make attempted murder a hard sell, as he clearly wasn’t actually trying to kill her. I fully believe it likely happened exactly as the deputy claims.

To be fair, I would argue that “mirroring” resulting in higher tips in a food service situation is probably less about building rapport, and more about it seeming like you are going the extra mile to make sure you are getting their order correct.

So.

Maybe it’s a matter of terminology, but I have to disagree. They’ve been notified of their pending layoffs, but until those 60 days elapse and they haven’t found another position within Amazon, and actually leave for good, they haven’t yet been laid off.

The onus is on the laid off employees to find a new gig, one which may or may not be better than their prior job, in order to not be fully laid off.

Heads up.

Also, see Ultima VII.

Well, of course the right point matters. The moon is shaped like a flat plate, not like the inside of the corner of a cube. If you don’t hit it right where it’s perpendicular the light won’t come right back.
