Why they don’t just throw in the towel and make everything plug-in hybrid is beyond me.

The PHEV is supperior in every single way to the pure BEV, in my opinion. All of the benefits of an EV, none of the drawbacks, and (for my family’s driving habits and ranges) 99% reduction in emissions.
People who think a big truck makes their dick bigger.
Re 1st: It’s quaint that they think Truck buyers want MPG’s. A majority of these trucks get sold to suburbanites that immediately ditch the factory tire and wheel package for some obscene MT tire and wheel that will gimp any MPG gains made from the factory. They want looks and looks only to project their ‘Alpha-ness’…
Neutral: No. God no. Of course not. Hell, a lot of the truckosexuals take low fuel economy as a badge of honor. Look at the rolling coal douchebags.
“It wasn’t fun to drive over 60.”
Ugh. It would be really nice if you could stop endangering everyone else on the road with this kind of garbage, man.
You know what? 12.4 mpg is an astounding number for that .cd and load. Im very impressed. Granted its flat land country so the only real strains once up to speed was aero drag but still. I got 11 towing a much smaller trailer with the GX470 a few weeks ago (granted with a LOT more elevation change).
Some shitty test for autonomous vehicles won’t help. End of the day, no matter how good these autonomous systems get (and they’re already getting pretty good IMHO), they’ll hit a limit without ALL other vehicles and infrastructure conforming to new standards.
It wouldn’t be a Jeep competitor as much as it would be something else entirely. After the Hummer H1, H2, and Ford Excursion were discontinued, it became impossible to buy a new SUV with the capabilities of a heavy-duty pick-up, and their values are still quite high, as owners are holding on to them. If Hummer was…
I wish I could buy something like the hummer h4/hx or 2004 bronco concept with updated styling. Living in the country, a fun two door would hit the spot, but the wrangler just isn’t interesting to me. Sure, it sells really well and nobody wants to mess with success, but that approach is leaving it in the stone age and…
and Jeep continues to sell Wranglers as fast as they can make them....
Huh. Funny you should mention that.
I don’t know where you are getting your data, but the “Hummer Platform” if you’re referring to the H2, is actually the GM truck platform. Those are very powerful, very comfortable, and generally not that lousy. I mean the thing had a 6 liter V8 and massive couch-like seating.
That’s why pickup trucks aren’t one of the most popular vehicles in America.
The solid axle, and body on frame design, aren’t selling anymore.
Hummer should have never left. It would be an amazing Jeep competitor if it was still around now.
There are sooooo many people that would be delighted to own a new Chevy Cruz but can only afford a broken down 10 year old cobalt or civic. So maybe “No wealthy car snob has ever been delighted to own a Chevy Cruz” is more accurate.
