This.  The result of the last time I got hit in a car with proper bumpers, at ~5mph was a shiny spot on my license plate, and the rubber strip on the bumper of the car that hit me was split. It probably cost the guy $50 and an hour or two to replace. Now, that’s a $3k repair bill.

Yes, but everyone’s insurance is more expensive because getting hit at 3mph causes $1500 in damage.

America better build better cars or face big taxes! Sad!

Screens are silly in a car at the least, and dangerous more than likely.

Because it’s a huge pain in the ass to take your car into a dealer for service when the dealer is only open the exact same hours you’re required to be at work.

The sheer amount of losses chalked up to stupid or otherwise unnecessary infotainment systems is silly.

Big power, manual, and even rear seats that have a chance at fitting humans.

Give them time. Chrysler has been producing defective vehicles for decades.

I had an 88' Sammie with a 4" spring-over lift and 31" tires. It was easily as stable as a modern Wrangler. The Wrangler I’d trade in the morning for a Jimny if they brought them here.

THANK YOU.

One of the most annoying things in the car world IMO. It’s so contradicting because we seem to have no problem with people that buy sports cars that never take them to a track?

The Jimny features a proper 4x4 mode (albeit part-time), while the Renegade is just AWD pretending to be 4x4. It’s also body-on-frame, and seems like it’ll have plenty of space underneath for lifting and monster-trucking on a scale we haven’t seen since the first gen Sidekick.

This.

You should request authorship on Oppositelock so you can share more about your Jimny when you get it. I’m sure I’m not the only person who’d like to see/hear more.

Quite a few off-roaders would enjoy a more nimble Jeep, convertible fans would love a more affordable choice, I think it’d be a huge hit.

If you have a way of importing them to the U.S., I’ll personally take two!

I’d love to see it here too. I can imagine Nissan, Fiat or Mitsubishi being willing to sell rebadged versions for the sake of having something fresh on the lot.

Not the 4 door model necessarily. The Samurai was a cheap little 4 wheel drive Jeep competitor that became enormously popular almost instantly. Not really an SUV in the modern sense, but I do feel like we saw an explosion of boxy AWD vehicles soon after, even if most of them were much larger family haulers.

a mini actually affordable wrangler alternative would sell like mad here.

I’d love Suzuki try to push for these to be sold in North America again. Sure, the dealer network for their cars isn’t there anymore, but it would give a hell of a boost to all the Suzuki powersports dealers selling bikes out there. I know the regulations are a bit different here, but I can’t imagine a modern truck
