Just an update - as of 2 minutes ago (1:09 CST) they broke last years SGDQ 2015 record of $1,215,000 and are currently up to $1,224,847 and climbing. They added a Super Mario 64 70 Star Race on as a bonus :)

Well keep in mind that entry fees for this were $50-$70 and they sold nearly 1000 entries - I’m pretty sure those went to the actual logistics of this and the money they’re bringing in from donations goes directly to the charity.

My friend and I on launch night (we are both white) took walks to go catch Pokémon and we went through a church parking lot and into the back of a convenience store and I thought “we look weird as white men, imagine if we were black”

I had originally intended to take the week off but...life had other ideas and I ended up putting my notice in to my job two weeks ago so I couldn’t take off to spend the entire week there (that would have been the dream).

I live in Minnesota - about 20 miles from this event so I’m very fortunate to not have to pay for hotel or travel. I should have clarified that because I realize that adds a lot of money on to the $50 price. My apologies.
