I’m gonna disagree on that one. I didn’t like the 986 when it was new, but it has grown on me.

The designers of the BMW grilles shouldn’t not only be fired, they should be run out of the entire industry.

BMW and their “change for the sake of change” monster grilles:

Anyone reasonable would see Elon Musk attached to something and immediately get as far away from it as possible. Telsa stans don’t think like the rest of us.

Hmm, my ‘07 Highlander works pretty well. Still comes on sometimes during overpasses and whatnot, but nothing bad enough for me to worry about it.

I know way too many people that turn their lights to the “off” position instead of just leaving it in auto. Those are the people that you are talking about. I just don’t get it, I literally never touch my lights and they work all the time, no idea why people do that.

I hear there’s a new substance out there that protects metal and forms a physical barrier to environmental damage including rust. Hell, one group that makes it is even named after what it prevents; Rustoleum. You can even get it in any color you want. I wonder if Tesla has considered looking into it.

Tesla following environmental regulations? You sure about that?

Or wrap it, but that seems contrary to buying a stainless truck.”

I’m a civil engineer and the materials science class I took in college (the 90's!) was one of my favorites. Just too much chemistry for me and it didn’t click enough for things I could not “see”, but I did and still do find it fascinating!  Would not surprise me if TSLA used an inappropriate grade for this...or

That’s not a dumb question.

Yeah but that’s probably because DeLoreans were  mostly garage queens.

I’m guessing this issue became obvious during the development of the Cybertruck, and that’s why Tesla suddenly got in the business of selling wraps.

It seemed to work fine for the DeLorean, so there’s that.

Others are in favor of their Cybertrucks developing orange stains, saying that they’re looking forward to the patina the stainless steel may develop.

Ok he may have cheaped out on the stainless steel here, but when the time comes to go to Mars I’m sure he’ll use nothing but the best materials.

(the most unnecessary /s ever)

Material Scientist & Engineer / metallurgist here. Tesla is using a custom cold rolled 300 series stainless steel, so similar to type 304 and 316 austenitic stainless steel. Marketing name “ultra-hard 30X”.

Its right there in the name: StainLESS steel. Not StainPROOF steel.

Some Cybertruck owners say their fellow Cybertruckers are blowing things out of proportion, and one said it’s a good idea to not “...drive it in the rain, or get it wet.

Orange stain? Sounds like the new “presidential model.”
