When I worked in a bank the only way we would ‘okay’ a deposit like this was if we phoned the issuing bank and verified the issuance of the draft/cheque I wonder if the ‘okay’ was merely they deposited the funds without a hold and the client misunderstood. Either way this is not good, I would suspect this car is in

or, you know, not do that. Lethal force is not called for to protect the profits of corporations and billionaires looting our society.

Toyota’s attitude more mirrored the general public’s:We’ll just wait until the charging infrastructure makes this more practical for daily driving, thank you very much.

In general, Toyota might be doing the most work to hybrid-ify their entire lineup (minimal gains from the Tundra hybrid aside). Hybrid RAV4's and Siennas might not be as exciting as a bold, new EV future, but they’re efficient cars people are lining up to buy.

Funny how our perception quickly changes when reality comes knocking on their doorstep, because reality doesn’t care about our perceptions.

okay, there’s a strong element of bullshit here. like how hard would it be to slip some airtags into some items?

Yup, all of this. They’re so afraid of government bureaucrats that they’ll willingly put their lives in the hands of private, corporate bureaucrats, who are arguably less accountable.

It fullfills one of Musk’s ketamine-fueled brain farts so he didn’t have to admit it was stupid.

I’m hoping they start inforcing the 6000 lb limit on the Brooklyn bridge and start ticketing every overweight EV.

The drag coefficient is just one portion of overall drag force. In addition to density of the air and velocity (which we assume are identical for the purpose of comparing different vehicles), you also need to know the total frontal cross section of the vehicle.

Now playing

The Cybertruck has bigger issues, like slicing people’s carrots without pause.

Tesla has already notified CT owners to wash their trucks immediately if any bird crap or bugs contact the stainless steel.

Where are these guys located? Winter isn’t created equally in the US, but you already knew that...right?

Wow, I just (a few minutes ago) wrote a post recollecting the idiotic fans claiming that Musk somehow magiced up some trick to make the CT aerodynamic, and how fucking stupid they were.

Shocking!

No matter how much you stan for him, Elon is never going to notice you.

I wonder what acidic bird poop does to bare sheet metal.

IIRC the numbers actually may it *way* cheaper to give people free housing rather than to let them exist on the streets. Their healthcare costs go down, emergency services are freed up and resources spent just keeping people alive get redistributed to areas that get you more ‘bang for the buck’.

From what I’ve heard, once you factor in healthcare costs, the US is paying a larger proportion of their income than peer nations which have universal healthcare. Somehow they’ve managed to convince people that they’re better off paying into a privately owned for-profit healthcare system, instead of a non-profit

Are you really trying to claim that people are better off living in tents under a bridge?
