I agree the show didn’t really have a firm grasp of the ethics/morals of the Federation, but that was actually something I liked about it, to an extent. It was ten years before TOS. Not exactly the “Wild West” of the Federation, which at that point would have been about 80 years old, but a lot can change in ten years.

1. Refits they are a thing

Hopefully they’ll go with a Jeffrey Hunter lookalike. But the elephant in the room is Ensign Spock, who should be on board for almost a year by now

Well, you see, the writers are supposed to sweep those more seedy, less politically correct areas of Trek canon under the rug and pretend they don’t exist. THAT’s when it’s totally okay to go against the almighty canon.

I had no Prosecco and was misty-eyed during Burnham’s speech, and during her conversation with Sarek where he gives her her rank back.

Also, I’m not one for nostalgia, but I had my arms in the air at the very end. So well done.

The only good thing about Discovery’s season ending is that these seething screeds about it halt, too.

Thank you! I have had a blast with this show, good effects, great actors, crazy story. Is it Citizen Cane? No, but even Citizen Cane wasn’t that great.

I’m going to blame the fact that I’d just consumed half a bottle of prosecco for my crying during Burnham’s speech. Also when everyone stood on the bridge.

The Enterprise showing up was the first time I rolled my eyes and thought “oh for fuck’s sake.”
