I know i'm beating the dead horse when I say that turning a famous woman's body into a commodity is vile and horrible, but I am still never-endingly stunned that when there's an opportunity to help or view her in a human light they can't and resort to seeing the entire matter as a property/copyright dispute.

I just want to warn everyone that these aren't "viral" videos in the sense that they have become inexplicably popular on the internet, but viral videos in the sense that if you watch them, a horrible and fatal literal virus will be transmitted into your brain and will kill you.

As a person on the spectrum between male and female, when people have such gender-normative reactions when something jumps outside of their prescribed "men & boys are this" and "women & girls are this" and there's no allowance for deviation from those two, it can be difficult/problematic/dangerous for me because I

"This is my acting face."

Dear everyone, this is what the teeth of large non=venomous snakes look like. Love, Your Nightmares

I can't believe how fucked up this has gotten. Especially all the blame that's being thrown at these women for taking these photos. Get the fuck out.

It is awesome what she's doing. I really hope she posts a follow up video or paper because I would love to know how the project turns out. I'm curious how many people will help her, how people react to her explanation. But, am I wrong to want to know the final outcome? Like it's her prerogative whether or not to

Except there's also an element of sexism to Bronies' protestation that it's NOT a show meant for little girls, it's SO MUCH COOLER THAN THAT. And there's a shit-ton of sexism in the way Bronies frequently act.

I don't think so at all. The physical burden of the mattress is strenuous, sure. But think of how walking in with a mattress will disrupt every class she goes to. How much room it takes up in an elevator. How it will slow/block traffic on a stairwell. Hell, how many people will be made uncomfortable by asking

And when the women do actually see a cent from it, we treat them like celebrities (or they actually become one, re: Kardashian re: Paris Hilton). So women whose privacy is invaded and they are adamant in claiming their rights to their privacy = career death or trauma, women whose privacy is invaded and they decide to

It wouldn't make a difference because they don't see the women in their lives as real humans either, just props. Or they see them as exceptions.

Excellent post. Remember that one of the biggest reality TV stars today actually started out as a case of a leaked sex video (against her will). The only reason Kim Kardashian agreed to putting the video out through Vivid was that she knew it was out there anyway, why not make money from it?

It's amazing how the people who thump the Constitution the loudest seem to have forgotten to read it.

I work in education and was constantly fighting to get my last school to deal effectively with the issues of boys having naked photos of girls on their phones and passing them round. Trying to get the school to see that it was not just an issue of punishing the girl for taking/sending it, but educating the boys to

Because "famous boobs! lolz!" and whatnot.

Honestly, they don't think women are people. I really just wish they would have the balls to come out and say it.

Straight white American men view "rights" as a series of passes for them to do what they please to anyone else that isn't a straight white American man.
