Ohmigod, early 00's were the absolute WORST for fashion. Like, tacky flared hipster jeans and pageboy caps slightly askew and hoop earrings and gaudy crap with "sexy" written on everything and I'm sorry, I can't go on. The memories are so terrible.

Congratulations! I think the important think to remember is to enjoy and encourage kids to just be kids. Of course, in this freaky day and age it's important to teach them about gender norms and expectations and to make them aware of all that media stuff and whatnot, but you sound like a really aware person already so…

I get where you're coming from. My brother is a complete ass in that he finds things in me to be annoyed with. Like if I don't indulge his immature behaviour, or speak up to him he gaslights me and it is so frustrating.
