I like Avira and Bitdefender. Both are free and run much easier on your system than a Norton product will.

There are much better (More accurate, less system-intensive, cheaper/free) options.

I hear ya. To be fair, at work I HAVE to recommend Norton because we have a license and can support it, but a part of me dies inside every time.
