If it comes with a Magic Genie who can nod his head and make parts appear and repairs happen I am all in, otherwise, even with a warranty, no, as I want to drive the car not await its return from the shop.

I am 62 and still autocross, do pretty well, I believe that most drivers in their early seventies are probably safer than drivers in their twenties. Problem is eventually it goes away, and everybody ages and loses abilities differently. For some it may be reflexes, for others eyesight or hearing or motor skills.

I think overall downsizing of vehicles as they transition to full electric.”

Since we can play anyway we want I sort of have two sets of rules, the general rule is to try to look at the market if it is, in my opinion, an ok or interesting vehicle, even if one that I may not necessarily buy myself with the caveat that if the market just seems whack to me I might still no dice it.

Boomer here too, same, I don’t automatically hate retro styled cars, but I just think the front on this is too fugly to get past. They even managed to make the underhood engine cover look ugly instead of just innocuous like it does on most cars.

Maybe they stole the stylists from Subaru that did the new WRX?

I was reading a period write up on these in Road & Track the other day and it noted how Volkswagen was trying to move upscale with these, and by the standards of the day they were not cheap. Which is kind of funny, because when they were new and I was, well much newer than I am now, I thought they were just a slightly

Pretty sure that is a “B6" dude

I kept looking for a catch. I know it’s a Saturn, but other than that, low mileage, nice condition, nicely presented. Based on other recent offerings here I double checked to see if there was a an extra “1" at the start of the price. Nope, this is the easiest nice price I think I have ever seen here.

Usually a vehicle used to haul something for pay, goods, trailer, people, tools to and from a construction site, but according to the IRS it is just anything over 6000 pounds gross vehicle weight.

Beat me to it, totally agree, they got it right, sales success, success with the critics and motoring public, retro done right.

There are tax breaks for larger vehicles, including mall crawlers, that exemption needs to be scaled back to it original intent, commercial vehicles.

Or at least stop giving a tax break to all vehicles over 6000 gross vehicle weight as commercial vehicles regardless of use.  There are so many reasons to do away with that policy, safety, the environment, wear and tear on roads, but Detroit likes it and the upper middle class does too, so it will never go away.

Since you love a debate, Webers are fine, but they are a pain to tune up properly (it is easier to turn screws on an SU than to trial and error jets on a Weber), once set up properly, which can be a big challenge to avoid stumbles or flat spots, they are great.

I have owned British cars all my driving life, which started when they were still being sold new (though I was firmly in the used market then), an including MGB about 15 years ago and an MGB GT way back when they were a lot more current.

Yes, we knew this growing up, in the summer, cruising around with no A/C, it was always cooler when we drove by the big cemetery. Of course we attributed this to ghosts, but better cooling properties of greenspace vs. roads and buildings is certainly a plausible theory too.

Don’t know the circumstances here, possible distracted driving, that certainly sounds like a possibility. Distracted driving really needs to be hit with the higher penalties, PR/education campaign, and social stigma that happened with drunk driving starting in the 80s and 90s.

The body kit just isn’t doing it for me, I don’t like the concept in general and the execution is horrible, it doesn’t look well integrated especially where the front bottom of the rear flares meet the door and the rocker panel, so it is already No Dice, then add to that the fact that there is a chunk half broken off

This thing literally made me smile this morning, I did not know they existed in convertible form.  An irrational nice price.  And yes I know they are not fast or sporty, it was a small personal transport that wasn't a penalty box and people actually wanted them back then, the hardtops sold in good numbers.  Anyway,

Thirty Eight Hundred for a not roached out most everything works car from a reputable manufacturer is nice price these days, even with high miles. Sad trombone though for a vehicle from the changing of the guard era when we went from sports coupes and sedans being the mainstay of production and model lines to SUVs.
